As of now, Hanover is the only Ariat riding paddock boot that offers a generous toe box and arch clearance for those of us with a wider forefoot and higher instep. For those of you who are wearing Dansko clogs with half chaps because you cant squeeze comfortably into Ariat womens boots, try this model. Contrary to logic, I found that the Zip version is more roomy than the Lace version. Very little breakin time required. I recommend a halfsize larger than what you normally wear to allow for sufficient toe clearance. Podiatrists say that, for riding and hiking boots as well as athletic shoes, you should allow a full thumbs width between your longest toe and the tip of the boot while bearing full weight. That might seem like a lot of clearance, but youd be surprised how your feet get pushed forward in boots when riding or running. Your toes should never touch the front of your boot or running shoe if they do, youre in a boot shoe thats too small for you. I wear 8.5 in dress shoes and 9.0 in athletic shoes Hanover in 9.5 was perfect for me.
