Basic Poly Side Pull Rope Training Halter from GA
The only problem I have with this halter is the noseband tries to spin & it's a bit long on my mares nose. I think if the side knots were a bit lower it would fit better. Overall I really like this halter.

Person from YOU DONT NEED TO KNOW!
Bought it, took it out of the box, it wasn't stiff at all! Put it on my horse, walked around, fine. Got on, fine. Rode around, fine. Rearing and bucking, fine. This is a great product and WILL be buying again! (PS the rings are actually quite strong)

I use this type of halter, but from Sunset Halters, which makes theirs by hand in the USA with superior quality rope and rings. This type gives good control through spooks, runaways, rears, and bucks. It is perfect for the one rein stops we use in NH. My difficult pony worked for years in these, and it has helped her bit work be lighter, because of the extensive flex training we did with it. She accepts the bit normally now, and snaffles with smaller rings can be hung from the rings. It is important to get a long chinstrap, which is also available from sunset halters, but not from SLT, unfortunately. A regular chinstrap won't fit. I am going to try hanging a regular chinstrap off scissor snaps, so it can easily be taken on and off. The chinstrap keeps the sidepull pretty snug, essential for precise control. If it is loose and flopping all over the place, the horse will receive very imprecise signals from it. It can be adjusted from the fiador knot, but it will slip when the horse pulls on it. I bought one of these from SLT for use as a spare. I can see that the rope will not be as durable as the Sunset Halters brand, and I am not 100% sure I trust the rings as much, but it looks pretty good and solid. If it is really polypropylene and not nylon, as it says in the SLT dscription, this may break down in sunlight over time, so it would be good not to leave it outside. At any rate, no equine should be left all by themselves in rope halters, as they are unbreakable should the animal get caught on something, and your animal can get killed if noone is there to rescue it. That said, it is nice to have that security in situations where it is important for the equine's safety for it not to be able to get untied from it. I think these SLT ones are fun to have around to have around as spares, just to have some neat extra colors, such as for holidays and school colors, etc. Remember, an added cost in not being able to order your size for your own animal, is you will have to retie all the knots to make it fit.

I originally got this for the small grade pony I leased last year because I was about to go on a weekend trail ride and I knew i'd be riding abound the camp grounds alot and wouldn't want to keep getting my bridle and so I put it on him and it was HUGE!! I tried adjusting it and everything! just way too big! But now I use it for my slightly small headed Tennessee walking horse and with just a little adjusting it fits her perfectly! :] so it turned out awesomely! ..other than that trail ride:/

Ok, but good for the price from Tucson,AZ
I have a 16.2 Appendix stallion and i thought this would be great to have to ride bareback in the arena with. When I received it, I opened the box, and I thought the color was gorgeous(I got the lime green)! Then I clipped on a pair of spare reigns and gave it a yank and it was fine. But then I went to the barn, hoped on my stallion and he shook his head and both rings snapped! I was somewhat disappointed after the rave reviews.

i really love this halter its so easy to put any kind of reins on it. my horse really enjoys trail rides and rides in the arena with no bit. i honestly think she responds to this halter better than the bit! im so happy!

I used this for my mare that is a little stubborn when it comes to walking and riding with only a halter. I put this on her and she listened so well. I wasn't sure about the side rings at first but when I saw it in person they are very heavy duty. Overall I love it!

This is a good, thick, but not too-thick halter. The rings are a lot tougher than they look too, so don't be deceived. This halter was a little too big for my Paint/QH mare, but it can be adjusted easily. It also can be left on all day and be fine! It looks easy to clean, but I haven't tried that yet. I did try riding my horse in it and it worked ok, I guess. I'm not used to riding with side pulls, but it gives basic head control, but nothing superb. Also, the bottom loop for catching isn't as small as pictured. I would definitely buy it again and recommend it. Its cheaply priced, sturdy, and good for riding...but great for normal care.
