Although irritated at first my TB quickly acclamated to this muzzle. It's the only I've ever tried, it's a bit heavy & I would like to see a strap on the front to go over the noseband of the halter. I replaced the clips with screw close clips I bought at the home improvement store. The fleece lasted for some time, but now that it's tearing I can't seem to find a replacement, so I'll probably settle with some halter fleece covers that I'll have to adjust to work with the muzzle. My TB eats hay & drinks with no problem, I remove the muzzle when feeding her grain so that she can easily pick up all the small pieces. I had to tighten her halter so that the muzzle doesn't slip over her nose. The weight will cause the halter to cut into the face, I permanently wrapped up the metal pieces of the halter to keep them from rubbing near her eyes & I temporarily padded the areas of the halter causing rub marks elsewhere until she her skin toughened, previously she never wore a halter in her stall, so the overall experience was an adjustment for her. I would recommend this muzzle to anyone. It can take a beating. Unfortunately it's only one size, so smaller equines may not benefit. The muzzle also helps to keep her from eating all the tiny scraps of hay that fall on the ground, so it may be useful for someone whose horse may have sand in their tummies. I also appreciate that the muzzle makes my TB eat more slowly & challenges her to think when she eats, thus keeping her from being bored.

Worked great for a few months. She hated wearing it. It was like punishment for her. She'd run away when she sees us coming with it after we catch her cribbing in her stall. Now if we put it on she's able to crib through it or on it IDK. I wish she would stop.

I put this on a mule that was hurting my mares. He couldn't eat hay with it on. I think he would have been able to eat tall growing green grass with it on but we don't have that. Poor guy got very frustrated and I removed the device. Might be able to use it for a catcher's mask?

This product works great, my horse can eat his hay and drink water. It is heavy and large, fits my quarter horse. I would recommend getting fleece guards for your halter to prevent wear marks.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Joie Good for aggressive horses
I use this muzzle to keep my horse from biting the other horses. He can eat and drink fine with it on and it spares the other horses and our blankets. It is very heavy though.

This is a great, high quality product, but I will have to send it back. I thought it was a LOT smaller than it is. It is HUGE, and yes, HEAVY!
I bought it for my 12 hand pony, and 14.2 Arabian to keep them from eating my trees. Sadly, it's WAY too big- would fit a draft horse! Nothing smaller! Buyer beware!

Rated 1 out of 5 by Hates Cribbing Not a solution for cribbing
My mare could get enough of a grip on the insides of this muzzle to crib, due to the curvature and soft coating on the metal. Plus, it is really heavy.

This is the only product that has ever stopped our 10 year old TB from cribbing. I am ordering another just to have on hand at the barn. Great product!
