What type girth is used with this saddle?
Mary Jo S on Aug 1, 2014
Best Answer: It is made of the I same material as the underside of the pad. It is very 'breathable' (nylon material? I think). I use my pad a couple of times a week on trail and in the arena. The pad has worn really well and easy to grab for a relaxing quick ride :). The horse I use is a large paint and the girth still fits well, but I have also used it on a quarter horse, too.

Two reviewers mentioned bruised calves from girth buckle on Western style pad, which is what I already experience on my English pad when riding my smallish Arab. Why not design a non-bruising buckle system?? I like the back side pockets, but would be just as happy with D-rings front and back. I do need some extra padding, since I have lost some of my own with age!

Best Answer: The main problem is pretty much all bareback pads have that lumpy buckle in the same place to bother your leg. Have you considered a treeless saddle, such as the Kimberley Ultralight Treeless Saddle (item E005593)? This one is set up with billets under a flap for the girth.
