Rated 5 out of 5 by Great mask-worth the money! While blackflies are a big problem here along the river, I actually bought one of these masks 2 years ago for sun protection for my 15h QH gelding, whose nose has a bald spot in his white blaze. This spot would always burn, crack, and bleed if I didn't put sunscreen on it several times per day. I tried two other standard length masks that weren't quite long enough before I found this one. We love it! It's stiff enough to stay off his face (unlike one I bought) and yet soft enough not to rub. The opening for his mane is a great idea because it keeps the mane from getting matted being underneath all day and keeps his mane out of his eyes. I also love the softer material for his ears-less annoying noise for him every time he moves his ears. I have had to mend a small hole in on ear but that's too be expected if a horse is turned out 24/7. I've decided to get a second for a spare and some of the reviews state that Cashel has made them longer. This won't be a problem for me, as the old one ended just above his nostril and that would sometimes get a little pink from the sun. Overall, well worth the price! May 16, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great... but not for my horse I needed a mask with ears for my horse because I clip his ears and the flies are bad. It's great quality and feel. It hasn't ripped. Unfortunately, though, my horse is a master at taking off fly masks. He gets them off within a day, even this mask, which makes me sad because I really like this mask. April 1, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love this mask! bought one for my bald face paint mare, and she is no long bright pink on her nose! she wears it with no issues, it rarely gets ripped off her face, and she really loves it as much as i do! thinking of buying the arab size for my yearling, and also bought a horse sized one for a friesian pintabian my friend owns and it fits him perfect! best mask hands down, you definitely pay for quality over quantity here. Rated 5 out of 5 by Better than sunscreen! My bald face mare has extremely sensitive skin to bugs, and even worse, to the sun. She gets blisters across her eyelids, in her nose, her lips, bloody, raw, and horribly painful to her. Sunscreen is not practical to put on everyday. Since I bought this mask 2 years ago, she has not burned once! The double velcro keeps even the annoying yearling in with her from tearing it off! June 1, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great product This is the best mask I have ever purchased. Not stiff and uncomfortable, but durable. I bought the long nose version for my bald faced paint. Way more than good fly protection. Great protection from gnats in the ears with soft comfortable fabric. Sun protection even in the winter for her sensitive pink skin. And like others have said in their reviews, she comes right over and helps put it on. July 30, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by It's a keeper ... almost I've tried several types of masks, but this has been the best. Unfortunately, my mare managed to lose it in the pasture & I can't find it. Don't know how she got it off - it has a double-velcro closure. The only problem is one I've experienced with all fly masks - horses like to rub, and they rub holes in the ears. But they love the mask - come to me to put it on when they see me with it. We live by a river and the gnats are awful, so masks are a necessity! There is no perfect mask, but this one is pretty close. July 5, 2011
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great Idea, Needs Work I bought one of these masks with the long nose and ears for my 20yr old QH who has severe bug allergies. I was tired of the constant scabs on his face and open sores on his ears. I usually use the Supermasks (which I love), but needed something with more coverage. The coverage is exactly what I was wanting. The quality of the product isn't. The closure is too small to really keep the velcro attached, and my horse keeps taking it off. The first one I bought survived only 24hrs before being shredded. The 2nd one is currently missing in the pasture, for at least the 6th time this season. Love the idea. Needs work to be improved. Rated 4 out of 5 by A little disheartened. I wrote a raving review before, however, I recieved my new one and need to revise. The design is still good, however, they've changed the quality of the mesh. It is lighter and more flexible than previously. You can feel the difference when comparing to the one I bought two years ago. Also, not sure what size arab they have but it doesn't fit mine. Passable in the upper section, however, the nose section is way to long. I think a bit of sewing can fix this. Also the closure is differnt. New design is more secure, (though I've never had the old one come loose) but so small it's hard to secure tight enough for my slender mare's head. I still prefer this over other brands but am still bummed the changes they made damage quaility rather than improve. July 26, 2010

Will this fly mask last?
Hannah P on Apr 14, 2014
Best Answer: Yes it will. We bought three of them for two horses three years ago, and one has a rip in it but the other two are fine. Our horses like to get them off and leave them out in the pasture, so sometimes they lie around out in the weather for several days before we find them. They have held up through this and other rough treatment, and still offer excellent protection. We really think that they are worth the expense. We wash them in the washer on a gentle cycle and hang them up to dry and they stay in excellent shape.

can this be monogrammed?
Janee M on Jul 26, 2015
Best Answer: I have never thought about monogramming this item because my boy is so ruff on his masks but they are excellent and they are UV Protected. This is a very big issues because my boy is solid white with blue eyes. Hope this helps.

I read that it runs a little big. I typically get horse sized items for my draft cross despite his huge head they always seem to fit. So would I be safe getting a horse size or should I try the warmblood?
Jennifer T on Mar 11, 2015
Best Answer: I would make sure you measure the length of his face. Where I have had problems with fit, is if the mask is too long, the part that covers the nose gets filthy faster. I haven't had any problems fitting the mask around the face because there is enough adjustment available with the velcro. I love these masks and will not use any other.

looking for a yearling mask with long nose. will the Arabian mask be too big?
Barbara F on Mar 11, 2014
Best Answer: I can't answer if the Arabian mask would be to big or not. My horse has a very long face, so the warmblood mask fits him great. It is the second or third one I've owned for the same horse. The long nose fly mask works great for keeping his pinkish nose from sunburn. I like the newest design of the velcro closure compared to my old ones. I would think if you checked the sizing of an Arabian size and compared it to the youngster, you could come up with a size that would work. Bernice
