Offer your horse the ultimate in fly protection and a safe alternative to toxic and ineffective fly sprays. Rated #1 for comfort, design and fit by equine clinicians and publications, the Cashel® Crusader™ Fly Mask employs a patented three-hole cap design that ensures comfort, eliminates forelock damage and remains stationary whether your horse is in the stall or the pasture. The panels are constructed of soft-coated nylon micromesh that hovers above the skin’s surface, protecting the soft tissues of the eyes and forehead from flying insects and blocking 70% of the sun’s damaging UV rays. Edges and seams are bound with low-nap plush fabric that won’t attach to irritating burrs or bristles.

The Long Nose Crusader™ is equipped with an interior layer of fringe that lies on the bridge of the nose, repelling flies as it moves with the natural movement of the horse’s head.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Works great and stay on. I bought one of these for each of my paints who have white muzzles to keep them from getting so sunburned. It works great and seems to stay on well out in the pasture. July 16, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Fly Mask Overall great fly mask that holds up well. A little on the pricey side compared to most brands but it is good quality! June 27, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by The Best I Can Find! This mask holds out better than most others. It also fits really well & I love the forelock cut-out. The long nose provides the best protection from the sun for my paint horse. I just wish they were cheaper, because I'd buy them for all my horses. June 23, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by 4 yr fly mask!! This product lasted us 4 yrs! I am now about to buy a new 1 only because the velcro is getting to where it doesn't stick. Horse leaves it on and bends his head down for me to put it on. It's comfortable and offers good sun protection as well as against the flies. Thanks for a great product June 22, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by The best fly mask I know of I love this fly mask. The soft material along the edges doesn't catch stickers an burs nearly as much as the other brands I've used, and it just makes sense to cover your horse's nose, from flies and sun. I have to cut nostril holes at the bottom, though, as the moisture from his breath causes dirt to clump on there. Even with the holes cut, it has lasted a very long time, and it stays on really well in the pasture with other hoses around. May 23, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love This Fly Mask Two of my Tennessee Walking horses have white noses and hate flies. I bought the small size and they fit all three perfectly. They are the right length, width and the ear openings are also great. These masks are very well made, but a little pricey. They are the best ones I've found so far. April 14, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Fly Mask This is a great quality fly mask that really fits my horses very well. I love that this mask comes in different sizes. Pleanty of eye room, they wash great and hold their shape. Totally worth spending that little bit extra for them. July 13, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love it! My mom recently bought this mask for her Paint mare. I was worried about it being torn by my 6 yo appendix gelding. He is a very rough player and wrecked all 3 of our winter blankets this year, ripped 3 tail socks in the last week on this mare and has torn lots of fly sheets and masks as well. So far, he has not done any damage to the mask at all:) I plan on buying these for my horses, too, as I have not found any that last this well, and we have been through ALOT in these 6 years since he was born! It's light and cool, he seldom loses it, it holds up well, and it keeps Clyde's pink nose from being sunburned.

What is the difference between the fly masks with ears and those without?
Cathy S on Jul 2, 2015
Best Answer: Depends on whether the flies bother your horses's ears or not. I don't know if it's because I don't trim them but flies have never bothered my horse's ears just his eyes and nose. So I chose the mask without ears to keep him cooler. This is a nice fly mask and usually lasts me 2 summers before it needs to be replaced.

Can you ride with this mask on? I'd like to get just one mask that I can use to ride with and turn out my horse in without it ripping or tearing easily.
Tankerbell12 on May 25, 2015
Best Answer: I see no reason why you can not ride with it on your horse. I found that my horse "took the mask off" in the pasture during turnout a few times. I am not sure how, but I usually found it. They last a reasonable period of time depending on your horse. I found that when in an individual paddock, the horse did not tear it up, but when turned out in a pasture with brush, I replaced it once a year. I had a regular size horse before and he was often tearing his. I repaired it with the sewing machine. Flies that are attracted to the horses' eyes can carry all kinds of diseases from horse to horse. I saw a fair amount where I boarded. Great idea to use the fly mask when flies in the eyes are a problem.

Does the Cashel Crusader Long Nose Fly Mask wrap around the muzzle? I can't tell from the picture. I need something that covers underneath and the throat area as well as the bugs bite my horse there. Thanks!
Judi F on Apr 17, 2015
Best Answer: The nose piece does not wrap around. It just covers the nose. If you wanted to it will flip over backwards toward their eyes since it is not attached.
