Lots of reviewers mentioned you have to cut the tag off that is sewn right above the withers. With anyone who has done this, do you have to cut all the way through the pad? And if you do does it fray?
Clarissa C on Jan 5, 2015
Best Answer: why cut it off? The pad should not have pressure from the saddle in that location so the tag "lump" should not make a pressure sore on your horse. If you cut if off because of a pressure sore you need a new saddle! If you cut if off for looks then I can't help you. Correct fit and a well made product is all that concerns me. And it doesn't get much better than a cashel pad! I have had 3 in the past 20 years.

How thick is this pad ?
Lynn E on May 20, 2014
Best Answer: Hi Lynne,
This is a thin pad, with no cushioning to speak of. I use it as an underpad to keep my heavy western pads from getting gummed up with sweat and shedding hair since it is easy to throw into the washing machine. For my purposes it is perfect, but if you are to use it as the only saddle pad, then be certain that your saddle fits your horse's back well since it does not provide any cushioning. I use it 4-5 rides a week, and wash it weekly. Has held up well .

Good Luck.
