Product Summary:

Ships to Canada
Based on our saddle fitting experience, we've introduced this bridge pad to accommodate a horse with muscle atrophy, or hollows, behind the shoulder blades combined with prominent withers. It's available in two widths: 3/4" or 1". The 3/4" thickness is for a horse with moderate hollows and the 1" is for more pronounced hollows. It's designed to fit under your regular saddle pad and is made with memory foam so it fills in the gaps between the horse and saddle. This provides a much more comfortable saddle fit for the horse as it will disperse the rider's weight more evenly. Encased in black, cotton spandex for easy care. ****Bridge pads are not full pads-they are small pads to fit under your normal pad. It bridges the gap between the horse's back and saddle tree to help distribute the rider's weight.  Color: Black. Dimensions: 14"L x 9"D.

Why did you choose this? Store
English saddle slides back. Horse needs to build muscle in topline but has been ridden on track with il-fitting saddles so has developed lower muscling to compensate. This is a great pad to overcome this - though its designed for Western I am trying it for English - trying to avoid the cost of shims and a shim pad. Not sure about size - just guessing.

Need the bridge pad to have a better saddle fit and be more comfortable for my horse

A friend has reccommended this due to having a herd time with a correct saddle fit. I do have nice saddle pads but, my horses withers are high and I hope that this helps.

Would this work to put on top or under? the saddle pad to fill in the space behind shoulders and swayback of an older horse to keep the saddle level ?

Best Answer: We put ours between the saddle and the saddle pad for a horse that was hollow behind the shoulders but did not have a swayback. The pad seemed to fill the space nicely, however, the bridge pad managed to come out at some point during our first trail ride using it and we lost it because we were unaware that it had come out. I would recommend sewing or gluing some velcro strips to the saddle pad and bridge pad to keep this from happening. We have not ordered a second bridge pad to try the velcro idea.
