  • Washing Instructions - Machine wash with cold water – Gentle cycle with mild detergent. Air Dry or Machine Dry/No Heat
  • Horses Turned Outside without Shelter - Turnout Sheet and Blanket materials are waterproof and designed to keep your horse dry, however if your horse is turned out in a field without a run in shed or shelter during prolonged rain or heavy downpours your horse may still get wet especially in the neck and tail areas.
  • When using a blanket or sheet it is critical to monitor the fluctuating climate and temperatures even with a blanket that is waterproof and breathable. The wicking properties of a breathable blanket are designed to wick away normal body heat, when a blanket is too heavy the heat and moisture cannot be wicked away fast enough causing your horse to sweat. The temperature and the length of your horse’s coat will determine what weight of blanket you should use. For this reason, most people who choose to blanket horses have several articles of horse clothing that offer varying levels of warmth.

Wonderful Blanket!, 2/9/2013

cecourtright from Tucson, AZ

I bought this blanket when it was on sale last spring and after my horse wore it all winter it hasn't torn at all! He is turned out, lays down and runs all over the place but this blanket help up to it all!

FANTASTIC!, 2/5/2013

LISA PAYNE from TX

I really love this blanket. I got it for my Arabian gelding, and it has kept him so warm and dry this winter. I'm planning on buying another one for my elderly mare. It's well-made, water-proof, and has definitely done the job I purchased it for. I would recommend this blanket to all horse owners.

good enough, 1/15/2013

Tecumseh from north Dakota

For the money is a good enough blanket. I have two mares turned out together and the tail flap was ripped off within hours of the first turnout together, but the fit is good on my yearling and it is very fluffy feeling so she should stay warm.

Great overall blanket, 1/6/2013

Shelby Lynn from walling ,TN

I really like the way this blanket fits my arabian. I love everything on the blanket but the belly straps, the hardware on the snap easily comes undone. I found him in the pasture yesterday and both straps had come undone. Other than that its great!

Great fit, but not the most durable blanket., 1/30/2012

northcountrygirl from North Country

Looks very nice, fits my quarter horse well. Liked that it had a matching hood. Would have preferred trigger-snap hardware for chest closure instead of belt buckles for easier on/off in cold weather when hands are stiff. The nylon outer shell is not as strong as many other blankets. The fabric caught and tore easily. Still feel like it was a good overall value because of the low price- but if you have a young, frisky horse that goofs-off like mine, you might be wise to consider spending an extra $20 for a higher denier nylon- Or accept / expect this blanket to last just one or two winters without needing a lot of repairs.

Wow - GREAT Blanket!, 1/12/2012

Teresa from alpharetta, ga

I've had different versions and brands of turn out blankets for my SEVEN horses!! These blankets have been the best so far! I need quality, durability and economy. This blanket exceeded my expectations and has a better fit than the Dover comparable blanket and the Saxon, which tend to bunch up at the withers from underneath (if that makes any sense!) and better hardware/features.I love these blankets. I am getting TWO MORE immediately! Did I say how much I love them? I like the weight/fill, exterior quality and style, quality of the hardware. elastic leg straps, fit. I will definitely replace ALL MY TURN OUTS with these as I can! Just need THREE MORE after this order. Got to keep my babies comfortable and warm...haha and we're in Georgia!

I bought the Defender Turnouts 4 years ago for two of my horses. I loved them so much I bought 3 more for the others. I have the 100 grm model which is awesome for temps down to upper 30's in winter they wear it during the day and i just put a medium on top. They have lived in these blankets which have held up terrific- now they have grown and i need to get bigger sizes!!!
