About Riding Coats The classic riding coat design begins with a close fitting style that flares slightly over the hips. Traditional hunt seat style has two vents. Dressage coats and coats used for multi-discipline are single vented. In a seated position, with arms in front, the sleeves should hit around the wrist bone. Most coats are easily tailored to give correct length for each rider's needs. The shoulder should allow for crest release, with arms requiring forward extension. Make sure that your long sleeve riding shirt cuff shows between ¼" and ½" below the coat sleeve.
