Why did you choose this?
I am quite petite...5'2.5" and 99lbs. I am afraid even the XS will be too large for me. I normally wear a size 0-2. I need to find a coat like this for rainy season riding. Thanks! OK so here is your ?
Best Answer: I am 5'2" and 100 lbs as well. I ordered the XS to ride in cold/bad weather in Wyoming last winter. I had concerns about it being too big and debated on ordering the kids version, but when getting kids clothes in the past have found the arm length is too short. Overall I was satisfied after adding about 4 layers -- I am extremely cold natured. It comes to about my ankles, sleeve length was not a problem, shoulders were very wide, but then again, they are on everybody. You look like you are wearing football pads in these coats, in my opinion. I'd rather have more room than not, though, when riding, so I was generally satisfied with the fit.
I wear a size 6 dress. Normally I would order a small, but a 50 inch circumference seems big. Do I actually get an extra small?
How does this run size wise?
Best Answer: I like my coats to wear a little large, therefore I ordered a XX. Normally I would wear XL if I wanted a strong fit to size. The Oilskin finish is awesome, not stuffy but extremely water resistant and warm.
There is an optional, attachable rain hood that comes in very handy when raining, & you can take it off by snaps when not raining. The coat wears so well I have 3 of them for different occasions.
Best Answer: i am 4' 11" tall and 110lbs and this xsmall is a little big but since i wear heavy sweaters in winter it fits perfect. I do wear it in fall n cool summer rainy days and it stays completely dry and keeps me dry!it is not too heavy either, great for snow storms and since i got the matching oilskin hat it keeps rain n snow off my neck and face! they do tend to run big because they are unisex.
How warm is this coat? I'm looking for a coat that will keep the rain out during the summer and don't want to get to hot waring it. So how do you think it will be waring this coat in the rain when it's 50 out?
Best Answer: This is a very heavy coat, but is a top layer only. It is perfect for keeping the rain off and keeping warm during those chilly day or evening rides, but I wouldn't want to wear it in the summer. 50degrees is probably fine, but I would just wear lots of light layers underneath that you can shed as the day warms up. Size it large enough to allow for those layers and you will be very happy.
I am 6'4" 300lb and wondering if I should purchase the 2x?
Best Answer: Yes, it runs a bit slim through the hips and I bet a 2X would work beautifully for you. Check the measurements to be sure they are on the site. I am a 5'9 woman who is large structured and I bought an Xl and it was perfect. This is an excellent raincoat BTW. I love it. I stay dry and warm but breathable during the most intense rains storms. Good Luck!
I normally wear a size 6 dress. Do I get a small or and extra small?
Best Answer: I think this duster wears best a little larger than normal. I have had 4 of them total. I got my first one for Christmas in 1985. I wear mine every day and it is great to have. Completely water proof too. If you are going to be in the rain you can purchase a hood with it that can be taken on and off. I would say the larger of your choices. I don't use the shoulder protectors at all but you may want to use them. I would not purchase the one that they do not remove from. Just in case you want to take them off.
Do you need to apply duck back oil?????????
Best Answer: I have owned my coat for almost a year now! It has gotten daily use from fall to current around working around my horses and farm! It has been put thru every type of weather imaginable from rain to snow to ice to mud! I have yet to have to treat my coat with anything to keep it waterproof! It was the best investment I have made for a coat ever! I have in the past bought cheaper quality dusters and was very disappointed in them! I have yet to be disappointed in this coat! I would recommend this coat to anyone who is looking for a good duster! Hope this helps and have a blessed day!
what is the sizing on an XXL?
Best Answer: Ya know... I bought this awesome drover and never had the need to use it yet. I've been riding up in the high mountains in Idaho, been caught in light rain and snow, but never needed anything this rugged. Size-wise, I'm a 6'2" XL and it seems to fit fine! If I ever have the need, I'm sure it will perform excellently!
I am male,5:7 210 pounds and wear 48 to 80 chest size, waist 40. what size if for me?
Best Answer: I'm 5'8" and purchased an x-small. For you, I think a medium would be big enough to allow you to still wear warm coats under the drover. You could probably even purchase a small if you wanted a slimmer fit. The drover is very roomy so I would suggest sizing down at least one size if you're a male and 2 sizes if you're female.
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A DUSTER AND A DROVER?
Best Answer: A duster is fashion term that references a long coat; a DROVER is a actually a person who drives cattle or sheep over long distances. In reference to the Drover coat, I believe that these coats are typically made of oilskin or have some wax coating on them to make them rain resistant. Hope that helps.
How does this coat compare to quality, etc of the OUTBACK brand of duster?
Best Answer: Well, it's hard to actually "compare" unless you have owned both brands, which I have not. All I can say is that I was satisfied with the Down Under brand oilskin drover that I bought and wore on a weeklong trip that I took riding out in Montana rounding up horses and driving them back to their summer pasture. I was in very harsh winter conditions, wind and snow blowing very hard against me and it kept me dry and as warm as I could expect to be. I was layered underneath with about 3 other layers. All of these oilskin materials (I have two hats) are stiffer than I like, but they do their job. I like soft, comfy type clothes, but it's a raincoat, so to speak, so it's going to be stiff, and it kind of smells like grease (oilskin...) That's about all I can say about it. Keep in mind, if you need it for warmth and need to layer underneath, make sure you get the proper size. I am 5'1 and 105 pounds and got the XS. It hit me about the ankles and I was still able to put three layers -- base layer, fleece lighweight and fleece jacket and ride a horse comfortably. HOpe this helps
Is the drover coat short or long?
I have an Australian Oilskin hat. Is it possible get a coat that is not treated? I am concerned that the treatment will rub off on my truck seat fabric. I do not have horses but I like the style of the coat (Duster/Drover) coat.
Best Answer: I have the coat and love it. I only use it outside or riding. I do wear it driving to the barn, but not on a daily basis so I'm not sure if the oil would get into the seats. It does have a strong odor from the oil so I don't know if I would wear it all the time.
is this coat for men or women?
Best Answer: I bought this coat for my son who was in 6th grade at the time however, I think it could be worn by anyone. I have a similar coat that I wear to ride in and I'm a female.
Is this coat designed to take a button in liner?
Best Answer: My coat is not, however, you may check and see if there are other styles that do.
I am very pleased with my two coats. Thank you
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A DUSTER AND A DROVER?
Best Answer: A duster and drover are one in the same, a light, loose-fitting long coat. The term drover comes from Australia but the U.S. uses the term duster.
--Item # E002961 is a short version of a duster/drove if you were comparing the two.
