This was a horrible saddle pad. Pulls apart easier than laundry lint and my horse HATES it! After riding it leaves a weird pattern on his hair even with a saddle blanket underneath.

Have one of these. Really weird on the bottom. Would NOT purchase another. Crazy synthetic material that likes to fray/curl into dust bunnie like clumps. My horse doesn't like it either

I would prefer if it was 100% wool instead of a 'synthetic felt fiber blend' but for the price I can't complain. The colour of the pad I received was very similar to the picture except the wear leathers were black. Overall I am very pleased with this pad.

It's a bit different than pictured. They gray has a lot of different colors mixed into a dark gray and the tough-hide wear plates are also black on gray instead of gray. But overall it's a nice pad with a good wither relief that will get the job done at a good price!

I ordered these pads and I can tell by looking at this advertised as "wool" pad that it is not wool. On reading the product summary, I find that it is in fact synthetic. Synthetic is not good to use as a saddle pad...it is hot and can even burn if the saddle is jerked. Nylon latigos the same thing.

Don't let the price fool you. I'd put this against a $200 pad any day. I mean cavalry has used basic wool pads for thousands of years. Pad holds up very well and leaves even sweat marks. The pad is not 100% gray though. It has specs of colored woven wools in it. But for $16 its not an issue. It is also made in the USA! Maybe thats why its so great compared to its more expensive cousins made in China.

Why pay the same price for a 1/4" liner when you can get a full inch of protection with wither relief? Great pad, I use it under my pricey wool show blanket. From trails to working cows, I can do it all without worry of uneven pressure points or soreness on my horse's back. I choose using this pad with my Mayatex combined over an SMX or Impact Gel any day! Conforms well, and doesn't compact like gel or foam (little room for inconsistent forces). Simple, but the best protection.
