how low a temp will this work ?
A shopper on Feb 19, 2015
Best Answer: I have been using this for several years. I have one in a coop that is insulated but still gets cold...the other is on the ground outside under a raised coop with straw bales on three sides to keep the wind off of it. We have had temperatures as low as -15 and we have not had any issues yet. If really windy with the low temps it gets icy around the edges but the birds have been able to get water.

how does this work?
Teresa N on Feb 6, 2014
Best Answer: I have two of these heaters, one has worked for 2 seasons and the other is new this year. I have the one in an insulated coop and the other is on the ground outside under a raised coop with straw bales sheltering it from the cold winds. We have had nights down to 10 to 15 below so far this winter and other than a little film of ice on the water it has kept things from freezing.

Will this heater work with a poly waterer? I have used one with a metal waterer and it works great.
Diane M on Jul 29, 2015
Best Answer: I do not believe so...I have not tried it, but would worry about the plastic on heated metal may not hold up well.
