Ok as a back up, 1/19/2012

Centauress from Mansfield, OH

I bought two of these and ran it so that if one quite working, half of my electric fencing would be backed up. Inconsistent charge to line, very easily shorted and not strong enough charge. The horses eventually figured out they could take the "tickle". One is still working, but had to replace batteries once a year and the other died right at the 2 year mark. Bad thing is if it the unit dies and you buy a battery to replace, you are stuck with a battery and dead unit. Will keep remaining one for a back up and split the electric fencing in two parts. One with a plug in unit and with this. Would not buy again due to fluctuating voltage in fencing. No weeds or other interference either. Overall operated below recommended voltage in your electric fencing and even my minis blew threw it.

Effective and dependable, 10/30/2011

Dena Popara from Bismarck, AR

I've had great success with these chargers over nine years. I have four of them. The keys to getting the maximum fence-charge footage are clean splices using splicers (instead of knotting the electric rope, wire or tape) and keeping wet foliage off the fencing. Expect the batteries to last about three years before requiring replacement. You can replace the batteries rather than the whole unit.
