These 6 gallon buckets are the best you will ever find. I've used these buckets from Horse.com for 10 or 11 years. I still use the same, original buckets and they are still in great shape. Horse.com is the only place I've found that has 6 gallon buckets, which truly is the perfect size. They are slightly larger than a 5 gallon so the horse can fit their head in easier than a 5 gallon. The extra gallon of water is perfect to get through a hot summer day to ensure the horse doesn't run out. And if you need to carry water, you are able to get where you need to and still have at least 5 gallons. The same scenerio with a 5 gallon bucket, after sloushing you arrive with only 4 gallons, which isn't enough.

i have build slow feeders on the ground, and the horses would tap dance in them and destroyed them. they flatten horse balls in one day, and break toys within a week. i have tried everything, my horses are so destructive!
in the summer we dont stall them. we let eat as a herd and come and go from the pasture and eat from several community feeders in the large arena. however, to feed their grains and complete feeds have been a nightmare.
they destroy anything screwed in, or nailed in to posts(out in the arena) or connected to their stalls. i purchased these buckets along with the bucket straps. this FINALLY ended all problems. i will be using these in their stalls for the winters months too. they can kick them around and they are still in great shape, when i have accidently left one off the strap and in the arena for them to kick around for the day. big enough for my mustang who has a head like a draft to get to the bottom to get his grain. (he is almost 16 hands and 1100lbs) i will be purchasing more for water buckets to keep in their stalls. love, love, love!! my mustang and his buddies cant destroy them and i am one happy horse owner. i have read other reviews where they have withstood draft horses stomping on them, so, i will stay with these. not too bad for price actually, considering they seem to last for years from other reviews! i also love the many colors and sizes. had i known, i could have saved hundreds. such an easy way to feed and water and with the extra gallon, fits so much in there and has a wide opening for their faces. 16" across. like i said my huge headed mustang can get to the bottom no problem to eat every piece of grain.

I've had my two Fortiflex Flat Back Buckets for at least 15 years now. Both are still in great shape even when my horses play with them in the pasture if I forget to bring them back into the barn. No cracks at all after all these years of constant use. I'm ordering a couple more just to have for other equine needs. I love 'em!!!

With a LARGE draft horse, these buckets are wonderful. The extra gallon is a huge bonus, and they are large enough for my mare to comfortably drink.
