Fitting Your Horse's Blanket

The fit of your blanket is extremely important to the comfort of your horse. An improperly fitted blanket can cause rubbing and slippage. To find out what size Amigo® blanket your horse needs, measure the distance from the center of the chest to the center of the tail. Horseware Amigo® blankets are sized in two-inch increments, so you will need to choose the closest size available. If you measure between sizes, we recommend that you round up.

Care Of Your Horse’s Blanket

To keep your blanket as comfortable as possible for your horse and to maximize the blanket's life, we recommend that you clean your blanket annually. First, remove excess dirt from the outside of the blanket with a brush and hose. The blanket can then be washed either by hand, or on a delicate cycle with cool water in a commercial washer. Use only very mild soap. Horseware® recommends Rambo® Rug Wash, an environmentally friendly product for use on synthetic fabrics. Rambo® Rug Wash will effectively remove dirt without damaging the waterproof coating. When the blanket has been washed, allow to drip dry and ensure that the blanket is thoroughly dry before storage. Do not put your horse's blanket in the dryer or wash with hot water. Do not store your horse's blanket if damp or wet. This will damage the waterproof coating and void any warranties. In the unlikely event that your horse blanket should become nicked or damaged due to horse abuse Horseware® recommends Rambo® Stormsure or the Rambo® Blanket Repair Kit to contain and waterproof the nicks that your blanket may incur through the years.

Why did you choose this? Store
Great material - runs VERY small. My horse wears a 76 measured and the 76 here ran quite a few INCHES short.

So i know this is a stock horse designed blanket, but does anyone know if it would fit the build of a chunky haflinger? He is currently wearing a size 74 riders international. He has a broad chest, stocky barrel, and short legs at 13.3. I currently have one for my narrow 16h appendix and it fits him great. Not sure if the broad chest part would work with the kind of front closure this blanket has. If anyone had any experiences or info it would be great! Thanks!

Best Answer: Unfortunately it's impossible to guarantee fit. This Stock Horse Turnout may work, or you might wish to try Horseware's Horseware Amigo Hero XL Medium 200g (Item #E013369) which is made for bulkier horses. Sizing for these starts at 75 inches, which may fit your Haflinger, although bear in mind this blanket does have a 20% longer drop length.
When you do choose a blanket, we recommend to try it on over a bed sheet or other thin covering so you don't have to worry about any dirt or hair on it for any possible return.
