Fitting Your Horse's Blanket

The fit of your blanket is extremely important to the comfort of your pony. An improperly fitted blanket can cause rubbing and slippage. To find out what size Amigo® blanket your pony needs, measure the distance from the center of the chest to the center of the tail. Horseware Amigo® blankets are sized in three-inch increments, so you will need to choose the closest size available. If you measure between sizes, we recommend that you round up.

Care Of Your Horse’s Blanket

To keep your blanket as comfortable as possible for your pony and to maximize the blanket's life, we recommend that you clean your blanket annually. First, remove excess dirt from the outside of the blanket with a brush and hose. The blanket can then be washed either by hand, or on a delicate cycle with cool water in a commercial washer. Use only very mild soap. Horseware® recommends Rambo® Rug Wash, an environmentally friendly product for use on synthetic fabrics. Rambo® Rug Wash will effectively remove dirt without damaging the waterproof coating. When the blanket has been washed, allow to drip dry and ensure that the blanket is thoroughly dry before storage. Do not put your pony's blanket in the dryer or wash with hot water. Do not store your pony's blanket if damp or wet. This will damage the waterproof coating and void any warranties. In the unlikely event that your pony blanket should become nicked or damaged due to horse abuse Horseware® recommends Rambo® Stormsure or the Rambo® Blanket Repair Kit to contain and waterproof the nicks that your blanket may incur through the years.

I am looking for a waterproof sheet for the Western Washington Winter it gets VERY wet here but not too cold. I want to allow him to develop his winter coat but stay dry at the same time. What turn out sheet would you recommend?
A shopper on Aug 30, 2015
Best Answer: I really like the Amigo brand, and I own a whole lot of them. I'm a barn owner and have seen blankets of all varieties, and have to say that Horseware Ireland is hands-down the winner over the years. I have a Rambo from Horseware Ireland that's been used for over 11 years and still going strong. Amigos are less tough, so if you have a horse that likes to rip through blankets, Amigo isn't a good buy--Rambo is far, far superior. Kensington is also nice, but I've noticed the hardware breaks quickly so you always have to be prepared with replacement buckles/snaps/hooks. Obviously Rambos are a lot more expensive, but they're definitely worth it. The worst (DO NOT BUY) brands are Hug sheets--cheap and rip constantly and SmartPak brand blankets as the stuffing comes out very quickly. Whenever someone brings either of those into the barn, I groan, as Smartpak blankets in the Gelding pasture create cotton "snow" by the next morning, and I always have an unhappy horse owner.

Will this fit a warmblood?
A shopper on Nov 30, 2014
Best Answer: Don't know about a warmblood, but it definitely fits my horse that is of foundation quarter horse type. She measured 76 and the 76 fits perfectly with no gaping at the neck like all of my other blankets. If your horse has a really thick neck, perhaps it will not fit. There is no adjustment with the front closure.

does horsewear liner work with this?
A shopper on Feb 20, 2015
Best Answer: You could put a liner under almost any blanket, but if you are looking for an Amigo that's designed to work specifically with the Horseware brand liner, please take a look at the Horseware Amigo Bravo T/O Blanket 370g (item E010103).
