Hi! Is the polyethylene platform in the impact gel LDXT bendable? Will it mould to the horse like the other Impact Gel pads?

Best Answer: It is bendable. Not as much as the regular pad with just the gel because the plate is a stiffer material than the gel. On my hard to fit horse, it causes the pad to flare out from his shoulders rather than letting the saddle push into them. He is a Tennessee Walker and has a lot of movement in his shoulders.

What is the material at the bottom of the pad in contact with the horse? I just want to avoid no slip pads with abrasive surfaces.
Thanks

Best Answer: The horse side is felt. The pad I purchased has some type of plastic impact panels sewen in in addition to the standard gel feature. The pad functioned well for the first few months. Note, I rode in it about 3 times a week for an hour or two each time. After about 3-4 months I noticed I could feel that the plastic panels had begun to crack. You could flex the pad and see and hear the plastic cracking and articulating inside the felt.

Will this pad fit on a horse that has high withers?
A shopper on Jul 27, 2015
Best Answer: It will, but for a more comfortable fit, I would purchase a pad that has bigger measurements. The pad is pretty small and you can't fit a huge saddle on it. My barrel saddle fits it about right, and it's a 15 1/2 inch saddle. I use it on my throughbred who has had back problems and it has worked wonders on him. This is a wonderful pad, just wish it was a little bigger

how heavy is it?
A shopper on Nov 16, 2014
Best Answer: This is a good quality pad and yes gel is heavy I would guess it weighs 5 lbs perfect for roping or ranch work you can use a thin 1/2 inch felt pad underneath will keep your good pad clean
