Why did you choose this?
I don't see much of a product description on this. I have a Circle Y wide saddle for my very broad QH mare. She lays her ears back when ask for a canter but complies immediately anyway (sweet girl!). I don't want to cause her pain. She's a bay, but has a white spot on her left upper shoulder just where the saddle is the most snug. She had it when I bought her) She has very large (shoulders. I tried an extra wide saddle (western of course) that a friend had. It just fell down all over her, so I guess there are even wider horses out there! I need a saddle pad that will alleviate any pain she may feel. I can't handle causing her pain at the expense of my pleasure. Can I get more info on this pad? Advice on another, more comfortable one? Thank you to anyone who responds to this. This mare is so, so special!!
Best Answer: My daughter rides at least 5 days a week and she loves these pads. We have four horses and use this pad on all four of them. My daughter competatively barrel races so she rides hard and we want to give our horses the most comfort we can. I have tried may other brands but have found this one to be the best. My only concern would be that in my experience if the saddle doesn't fit you can use the best pad on the market and your horse still isn't comfortable if the saddle doesn't fit correctly. The white spot is from the saddle not fitting properly.
Is 32 the length wither to croup? and 30 width? how do you size this pad/
Best Answer: Length by width
Who makes this saddle pad?
Best Answer: Hi Sue, Impact Gel is the company's name that makes them. I bought this pad for my husband who's a team roper and it is still holding up great. They're more expensive than the other brands but worth it in my opinion. Hope this helps. Barb
Please tell me about cleaning the pad - how well does it come clean? do you use any product on it? Thanks!
Best Answer: I recently got this pad. I will clean it by using a pretty strong hose spray. Always spray from the center of the pad, outward. Hang to dry. Letting it dry in the sun exposing both sides of it may help with killing germs. I won't use soap because it is to hard to get completely out. Don't brush it either. That would damage the fiber.
I really like this pad. Lot's of great features I was looking for. I got the smaller one for my 14h short backed Quarab. This pad is not too thick so you can use a thin blanket under or over it if you like.
will this 30 inch be best for a tucker saddle ?
Best Answer: It really depends on a few things: a. The age of the horse you are riding, b. The discipline you are participating in, c. Personal preference...we use this pad on our older breakaway/tie down horse...it is more comfortable for him--- there is less friction, it protects the withers and is more comfortable as it wicks heat away. what kind of Tucker saddle do you have: pleasure/trail, barrel---you really can't go wrong with this pad--it is used everyday and wears well...
Are the two pieces connected with Velcro?
Best Answer: There is no Velcro on this pad. The leather is stitched to the felt. Nice pad. Use it everyday
Is this good for barrel racing?
Best Answer: Yes, we bought this pad about 2 years ago, this is the second season with it and very good pad. We use it for all disciplines of riding, pleasure, trail and gaming, Our 4H club actually toured the factory where they are made, Ettrick, WI. Great product made right here in the Midwest of USA! We have pressure washed the pad and laid it in the sun to dry. It's holding up well and I would recommend it, in fact, I plan to buy another pad.
Will this pad fit a timberline western saddle?
Best Answer: It's super flexible and the cut away areas allow it to fit with multiple saddles. Super comfortable on my horses. I do not own the timberline, but have used my simco, billy cook, and an off brand synthetic western saddle with the lad and it's worked great with all of them
How many years should I expect one of these pads to last with moderate use?
Best Answer: I have had mine since 11/13 and use it two or three times per week. Actually, my wife and I both use them. It shows little or no signs of wear. When it gets dirty, I pressure wash it and hang it to dry. You should expect several years of moderate use.
What impact gel pad of this quality is available for my daughter's jumper that is beginning his rehab from a vehicle trailer accident?
Best Answer: I would suggest checking the Impact Gel website. We have used this pad with an endurance saddle and english (forward seat) saddles at home. I know they make pads for english saddles but I do not know if they are the same impact gel. Good luck and I hope your daughter's horse has a smooth recovery.
My horse gets really hot while riding and running barrels. I'm looking for something that wont make her too hot. Any suggestions?? Is t
his a good saddle pad for riding in the summer when its hot?? If not please feel free to give me some recommendations.
Best Answer: Well I do like my gel pads. I have 2. I used to think the gel would get hot and burn the horse. But it doesn't. I watched a 1 hr. show on Impact Gel. You can call them directly or go to their web site. Like I said I have 2. This 1 here and 1 with the blanket on top.
Is the 32 x30 32" wide and 30" long or 30" long and 32" wide?
Best Answer: 32" Spine
I have a Tennessean saddle. My T Walker is getting sore in two spots, up at the withers and back spine. I can see the reinforcemental for the withers is there any help for the lower spine?
Best Answer: This is a great pad. I love that it doesn't slip or allow saddle slippage.
HOWEVER, If You're getting sores, maybe it's the saddle fit itself. I'd check that 1st. Contact saddle maker and ask what pad they recommend. I know my friends TWs have high withers and low top line. I'd check out skito pads, as they are made to fit YOUR horse, not ALL horses and cost is pretty close.
I trail ride long hours and as I live in AZ it is essential that I have a pad that will remain "cool". I have never used a gel pad--would it be better in that way? My horse has developed quite high withers & also now require a cutback & would like spine relief as well. Would this pad provide all this?
Best Answer: First, I live in Minnesota and experience hot muggy summers and ride in that weather with this pad. I believe the pads are made of wool and I can tell you that in very hot weather out horses are always sweated up and wet under the pad. I have had horses that are high withered in the past and I believe this pad does help with that issue. If your horse is severely high withered, I would consider a build-up along with a good pad. We have been very happy with the pad overall and need to purchase a second one. Good luck
Other websites I have looked at have a 32 x 32. You don't?
Best Answer: I got the 30x30 for my short backed 14 hh horse. Nice pad!
