This is a great saddle pad. As my horse is aging, my old
pads just aren't comfortable for her withers. This pad cushions her
withers very well. I am buying a 2nd one for a gift.

Love this pad and the way it fits my horses. Light weight and keeps my horses backs protected.

I don't see much of a product description on this. I have a Circle Y wide saddle for my very broad QH mare. She lays her ears back when ask for a canter but complies immediately anyway (sweet girl!). I don't want to cause her pain. She's a bay, but has a white spot on her left upper shoulder just where the saddle is the most snug. She had it when I bought her) She has very large (shoulders. I tried an extra wide saddle (western of course) that a friend had. It just fell down all over her, so I guess there are even wider horses out there! I need a saddle pad that will alleviate any pain she may feel. I can't handle causing her pain at the expense of my pleasure. Can I get more info on this pad? Advice on another, more comfortable one? Thank you to anyone who responds to this. This mare is so, so special!!

Best Answer: My daughter rides at least 5 days a week and she loves these pads. We have four horses and use this pad on all four of them. My daughter competatively barrel races so she rides hard and we want to give our horses the most comfort we can. I have tried may other brands but have found this one to be the best. My only concern would be that in my experience if the saddle doesn't fit you can use the best pad on the market and your horse still isn't comfortable if the saddle doesn't fit correctly. The white spot is from the saddle not fitting properly.

Please tell me about cleaning the pad - how well does it come clean? do you use any product on it? Thanks!
CJs rider on May 5, 2014
Best Answer: I recently got this pad. I will clean it by using a pretty strong hose spray. Always spray from the center of the pad, outward. Hang to dry. Letting it dry in the sun exposing both sides of it may help with killing germs. I won't use soap because it is to hard to get completely out. Don't brush it either. That would damage the fiber.
I really like this pad. Lot's of great features I was looking for. I got the smaller one for my 14h short backed Quarab. This pad is not too thick so you can use a thin blanket under or over it if you like.

will this 30 inch be best for a tucker saddle ?
debbie w on Jul 12, 2015
Best Answer: It really depends on a few things: a. The age of the horse you are riding, b. The discipline you are participating in, c. Personal preference...we use this pad on our older breakaway/tie down is more comfortable for him--- there is less friction, it protects the withers and is more comfortable as it wicks heat away. what kind of Tucker saddle do you have: pleasure/trail, barrel---you really can't go wrong with this pad--it is used everyday and wears well...

Who makes this saddle pad?
Sue J on Oct 19, 2014
Best Answer: Hi Sue, Impact Gel is the company's name that makes them. I bought this pad for my husband who's a team roper and it is still holding up great. They're more expensive than the other brands but worth it in my opinion. Hope this helps. Barb

Are the two pieces connected with Velcro?

Best Answer: There is no Velcro on this pad. The leather is stitched to the felt. Nice pad. Use it everyday

Will this pad fit a timberline western saddle?
Linda B on Nov 11, 2015
Best Answer: It's super flexible and the cut away areas allow it to fit with multiple saddles. Super comfortable on my horses. I do not own the timberline, but have used my simco, billy cook, and an off brand synthetic western saddle with the lad and it's worked great with all of them

How many years should I expect one of these pads to last with moderate use?
Peggy C on Jul 4, 2015
Best Answer: I have had mine since 11/13 and use it two or three times per week. Actually, my wife and I both use them. It shows little or no signs of wear. When it gets dirty, I pressure wash it and hang it to dry. You should expect several years of moderate use.

What impact gel pad of this quality is available for my daughter's jumper that is beginning his rehab from a vehicle trailer accident?
Judith W on Aug 14, 2015
Best Answer: I would suggest checking the Impact Gel website. We have used this pad with an endurance saddle and english (forward seat) saddles at home. I know they make pads for english saddles but I do not know if they are the same impact gel. Good luck and I hope your daughter's horse has a smooth recovery.

My horse gets really hot while riding and running barrels. I'm looking for something that wont make her too hot. Any suggestions?? Is t
his a good saddle pad for riding in the summer when its hot?? If not please feel free to give me some recommendations.
Lexi S on Jul 7, 2015
Best Answer: Well I do like my gel pads. I have 2. I used to think the gel would get hot and burn the horse. But it doesn't. I watched a 1 hr. show on Impact Gel. You can call them directly or go to their web site. Like I said I have 2. This 1 here and 1 with the blanket on top.

I purchased this pad this past December for twice/week lessons at my local riding trainer was so impressed with the product quality and the fit on 10 out of 11 horses in her barn and is interested in replacing many of her existing western saddle pads for other students' use. Before she orders a substantial number of these pads she would like to long have other riders had/used this pad, and how does it hold up (wear and tear?) to repeated use over time? All responses will be shared with her. Thank you.
