Rated 1 out of 5 by Wouldn't Touch It This is an item that is up to the horse's preference and unfortunately my horse wouldn't touch it. February 16, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Too Delicious My horse eats this in minutes. I wish there was a way to make the treat last longer. It is too costly to give more than one every few weeks. It only took him a few minutes to figure out that turning his head sideways and biting would get the entire treat on the floor. :-( December 5, 2011
Rated 4 out of 5 by especially great for holding himalayan salt my horses love these treats so much, that they eat them in less than a day. with them being so aggressive, the refills just cost too much to feed them one every single day. so they only get them every once in a while. both horses dont just lick them, they try to bite them. they must succeed somehow since they disappear in less than a day. my mini's mouth is so small that he was able to bite the treat because at first it was hanging real low for him and (i seen him do it) he was able to pin it against his side and bite off chunks. tying it up a little higher stopped that. both horses will keep busy non-stop with the treats until they are competely gone. oh, and my mini (more so than my arab) had the treat all over his face, in his eyelashes, ear hair, forelocks, and mane. thankfully it wasnt too bad to clean off of him though. im too scared, after seeing how much he got these treats all over him, to try the other grain and molasses treats. i think those would definitely be too sticky and messy. i really love the himalayan salts that can be put in these holders. they are very hard, and the horses cant bite them at all. they absolutely love them as well, and wont even touch the other mineral blocks now. plus, they last way longer than the treats do. they dont crumble when wet, and can be hung up outside with nothing to worry about. i think this would be an ideal item to have for an injured horse who must stay stalled for a long period of time to recover. or if you are going on a trip and must keep your "not so use to being stalled" horse in a stall over a night or two. overall i think these treats do pretty good, the horses love them, but they could get real pricey if you have aggressive horses like me and would have to refill them constantly. i do think the refills are worth buying as an occasional treat, and the holder is definitely worth having for the himalayan salt! Rated 4 out of 5 by Yummy! My horse loves this snack, a little too much because it only lasts him for up to four days (it is kept in his stall and he has free choice to go in and out as he pleases, so it's not like he's stuck in his stall with nothing else to do). At first he didn't understand it, I suggest before hanging it show it to your horse in your hand and let them investigate, once they get the idea that they're supposed to lick it, then hang it. I hung mine with a long rope at a high point in the ceiling so it would be roughly the height of his mouth. I wanted to use a lot of rope so that the jolly could really swing around and be a challenge for him to eat. It was so funny to watch him try and figure out how to lick it without it swinging away from him. So far I have only tried the apple flavor which he likes, but I just received the molasses flavor today and it smells great. Overall I would recommend this product and I know my horse certainly would! February 23, 2010
