Product Summary:

Kensington CatchMask Extended Nose with Ears Fly Mask
The CatchMask with ears functions as a fly mask until you attach a lead rope snap through the latch assembly converting the mask into a secure catch halter. It looks normal to other horses so stable mates with a habit of removing each other's masks tend not to. Built with highly durable and weather resistant Waxwear binding and 1000 x 2000 denier mesh for long lasting wear.  Textilene provides 73% UV protection to the horse's face keeping your horse cooler.

We have foxtails and the masks with the fuzzy lining just draw them in and they are a witch to get out. I bought the catch masks without the ears and nose for my other horses but I have one that suffers from sunburn on her nose so this is special for her. I am certain it will do a great job! Plus they HOLD UP and clean up wonderful. Foxtails are not a problem NOW!

I like the snug fit of this mask -- it seems as if it would be harder for the neighbor horse to remove. And I chose the ears because my horse has fly-sensitive ears.

Can I remove the nose part of the fly mask if I need to wash it? - Thanks
Maggie C on Jul 16, 2015
Best Answer: No you can not remove it. I had to scrub the nose part every day and then washed entire mask once a week. The nose portion was always full of crud. I eventually cut that part off. I like the quality of the mask but would never purchase another one that covers the nose.

Some fly masks I have owned previousley the eye part of the masks gets holes really quickly does this one? - Thanks
Maggie C on Jul 16, 2015
Best Answer: No problem with eye coverage as mask stands away from eyes so isn't bothersome to my horses ( 3). It is truly important to measure your horses head as the company states so mask fits as it should. My horses didn't much care for the ear portion so I put their old masks for a few days, after that they were glad to the have ear protection from flies.
Fits better than any other mask I have tried for my Morgan to my tallest walking horse. Good Luck.

will the medium fit a quarter horse?
A shopper on Oct 21, 2013
Best Answer: It all depends on the size of your horse. My paint stallion is 15.3HH and he has a pretty well developed jaw, although he has a very nicely shaped head. The size I bought for him is a large, and it fits him perfectly. Another huge plus for this flymask is that it is extremely well made and it keeps the sun off his mostly white face, including his muzzle,(JD is a homozygus black and white frame overo) Sun burn has always been an issue with him, and I have tried dozens of fly masks, even going so far as adding strips of cloth to various styles of fly masks, and I must say this mask is the best yet of them all. I'm going to order more for my other horses as well. If your horse is over 15HH and has a well developed jaw, as many Quarter Horses do I recommend the large size. If your horse is under 15HH and has a fairly small head try the medium size. I hope this info helps.

Will this medium fly mask fit a Thoroughbred horse? he is 1100lbs.
Lesley A on Aug 19, 2014
Best Answer: Sorry for the delay in answering your questions. Actually, I think it would fit your Thoroughbred. I ordered two of these for my pink skinned white Appaloosa and have used them on a daily basis. Exchanging one for the other to keep them clean and to protect her skin. She even wears one at night when she is out in the pasture
to deter flies.

She is about 1100 lbs. and the medium fits well. After a years use they are still in good condition.

Someone told me that the Kensington CatchMask was being discontinued. Is this true? I sure hope not cause it is the best mask I have found yet. Thank you.
Juanita W on Jul 19, 2015
Best Answer: We just bought one and it was on sale, marked down. I do not know if it is being discontinued. It did come with a good war5ranty.
We like it too. Covers the ears and down over his nose. Easy to put on.
I hope they do not discontinue. Guess only Kensington can really answer that one.
