Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Fly Boots I was very hesitant to purchase these for I was not sure they would stay up and work, but for two weeks now they work was always pounding his feet before from flys bitting him, but this has stopped now...just wish they sold in pack of 4 instead of 2 August 22, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best I have found These are the best made fly boots out there. They last 2 or more years, depending on how much they are used. My donkey is allergic to fly bites and these have saved him from total misery. He wears them daily from April through October. They will start to droop a bit, but if you velcro them tightly to start, they are very effective. August 20, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Rooster loves them I take them off at night and he can't wait for me to put them on in the morning - they have lasted over a year and he is turned out all the time - we are ordering another set . July 16, 2012
Rated 2 out of 5 by Nice, but not Great I had purchased this product to try it out and after seeing that there were plastic "stays" in the boots I thought they would hold up great! What I didn't know is they meant the mesh fabric was supposed to act like "stays" but it does not. The only horse they stayed up on ok was my fine legged Thoroughbred. They did not stay up on my Fox Trotters at all. When I went to check to see how they were holding up, they looked like anklets on those two and I couldn't help laughing! I think they would stay up ok on horses that have skinny legs and do not lift their legs high to stomp flies. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this product to any of my friends. June 16, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great boots These fly boots work very well. The fleece is very plush and helps avoid rubs. The velcro is strong and the mesh is textilene so it's near impossible to rip. Great product. June 10, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome leg protection I bought two pairs. One for a very fine and small in circumference canon boned horse and another pair for a big boned Tennessee Walker. They fit both types of horses and stay up all day. Velcro is extremely strong and the binding is soft on the perimeter. October 13, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Kensington fly boots These have held up well at our farm. They seem to be comfortable and don't slide around too much. Our horses are out in pasture most of the time. If we forget the boots and the flies get pesty, the horses will whinny for us until we come put them on. September 1, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Worth every penny! These boots stay on! They may slide a bit but the velcro is strong & survives turn out for days at a time. Saves leg& foot fatigue as horses do not stamp their feet. I have had 2 pairs for 3 yes 3 seasons. They will finish this season & then I will replace them as they are tattered. Without a doubt the best on the market & I would not be without them! August 12, 2011

do they rub and cause sores?
A shopper on Sep 1, 2013
Best Answer: The short answer is 'yes', but usually not for long. When they're new and stiff, you need to check them often. Once they're softened up, they're fine. My horses sometimes get a callous where it rubs on their fetlock (they wear them 24/7). The boots don't look like the picture after they've been on a while. They'll sink down to where the middle velcro sits just above the fetlock. I also use them on the back legs, but that's trickier - there's more 'meat' on the back legs and it's easier to rub or get them too tight. Wish they had some elastic on the velcro. Still helps save on fly spray and shoes/feet.

Are these fly boots a set of 4 or 2?
Roxanne on Mar 6, 2014
Best Answer: They came with two boots, but the main stomping/chipping of hooves occurs with the front feet so a lot of people don't put them on the back feet. But of course, you can.

Do the velcro straps get torn off easily? - Thanks
Maggie C on Jul 16, 2015
Best Answer: Hi Maggie, The Kensington Horse Fly Boots have worked great for me. I have been using the same two pair for 2 years now on the front and back, they also wash great. After washing I just kind of form them and let them air dry. There is absolutely no problem with the Velcro tearing off after 2 years, this will be the 3rd year we are using them when the leg biting Flies come here in MN. I bought a 2nd pair to have handy should I need them. Our Horse has leg problems therefore he should not be stomping from Flies and wears them daily once the Flies come. Dianne in Minnesota

What is the difference between the Kensington fly boots and the Kensington natural fly boots?
Kim S on Oct 20, 2015
Best Answer: It looks like to me the only difference is the color/pattern. I was not aware there were "natural" boots until this came. It does seem to me the company should know since they are selling them.
