Rated 3.5 out of 5 by 31 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Too Hot Sheet is very well made. Sheet runs big and likes to move back. Also doesn't provide any belly protection. For my mare, sheet was too hot. We are already up to 96+ degrees (105+ with the heat index, and our humidity is very high). I would still recommend sheet for cooler states and order smaller than normal. June 14, 2010
Rated 5 out of 5 by HAPPY HORSES! The sheet is wonderful. The neck wanted to slide down a little so I used the buckle on it to attach it to a fly mask and it worked great. It seems to run rather large in my opinion. The material seems extremely durable and of excellent quality. I hope it is cool enough for the hotter months because it is the best fly protection I have ever used to date. I bought the standard sheet as well and the best part is the shoulder lining that allows free movement. They wash very well too! June 9, 2010
Rated 4 out of 5 by good sheet for the price The only problem i have with the sheet is that it shifts sideways very easily. I will fix it and 10 minutes later it will move, so I wish it had 2 belly straps, or some how the belly strap went around the front legs because it tends to shift backwards too. However, it fits very true to size, and my mare is comfortable in the summer heat of 80 degrees. There also hasn't been a fly bite on her since I put it on her. She had horrible welts, and now is very comfortable. Upstate NY has HORRIBLE flies so I'm very impressed how my horse doesn't even have one bite. I also like the neck cover, it works really well and doesn't ride back too much. it gets dirty really easily but i just rinse it off with the hose everyday when i take it off her to ride. she rolls and plays and it hasn't torn yet. overall its a good investment for the price, like I said, I wish it wouldn't shift so much. Wanted to try a different brand. One I have been using keeps getting torn up. Very happy with the fit. But ripped in less than one week use.

    fleece at withers?
    Diane M on Jun 26, 2015
Best Answer: Yes. Also, because it's white, dark horses are much more comfortable if they're in the sun. You can feel the difference in the heat coming off their back.

do horses over heat in this?
    Scotlynn H on Jul 24, 2014
Best Answer: I live in Homosassa, Fl. I have 5 horses wearing Kool Coat. We have had a very hot, muggy, buggie summer. This is the first sheet that I have found (at last!) that keeps my horses comfortable withouut sweating. The open lower half of the blanket makes a huge difference. The belly band is under instead of outside the blanket but it works fine keeping the blanket in place without pulling it cloose to the body to increase heating. My horses wear them 24/7 except when working. They are pastured with free acess to their stalls and the blanket has proven to be very durable. I made a mistake and hitched the top closure at the base of the neck to the halter. One horse rubbed the halter off, catching her foof in it and ripped the neck portion. Not a smart idea.I highly recommend this blanket.

Does this sheet come with sheepskin on the withers?
    Payton D on Jul 24, 2014
Best Answer: I am currently using this product and just ordered a new one for the remainder of this summer. It is 100% man made materials. I personally do not see any advantage to sheep skin on the withers. My horse has appeared to be very comfortable, and he uses it everyday.

My gelding is broad through the shoulder; wears a 78 in rambo, 81 in weathabeeta. What size should I get in the Kool Coat Airstream?
    Shelley S on Sep 23, 2014
Best Answer: I have a 16 1 quarter horse. He fits an 81 in pretty much everything. He needs butt space. The 81 kool coat. Fits him nice. He lives in it all year. I actually have 4 of them. They wash beautifully, come out like new !!!! My girl friends horse is also 16 1. Irish sport horse. And he has a 78. I prefer the roomier fit of the 81. He has never had rub marks in two years.
I also suggest to not cross the back leg straps. If u put to same side the blanket after roller adjusts perfectly :)
Hope the help. The kool coat is my must have !! From Palm Springs to vancouver :).

how do you know what size??
    booboo on Aug 6, 2014
Best Answer: you measure your horse from middle of chest to middle of tail. what that measures is the size you need. the neck piece should have a chart to correspond with the sheet size.

how to measure for horse blankets?
    Bryn B on Jun 23, 2015
Best Answer: Stand your horse as square as possible. Measure from the center of the chest around the side of the body to the point of the horse's rump just before the tail. If your horse ends up measuring between sizes, choose the one closest to your measurement unless your horse is particularly big-bodied.
Measuring is usually best done with a helper and a soft or cloth measuring tape. Take the measurement twice to be sure.
