The reviews had me worried but I needed a cheap fix to my new mares discomfort. Not only was she riddled with fly bites but she was covered in sunburn! Since I didn't know how she would act with a blanket I wasn't willing to pay an arm and a leg for something that may end up in pieces. I was leery about her sweating as she is a 1150 pound Paint..at 15.1 she's stocky...as well as fat! The blanket fit fine and the sweat was minimal.

I bought this 2 years ago for my 2 girls, and yes it keeps the bugs off their hides, but they also SWEAT too much! No air movement underneath, on the hot days when flies are active and the protection is needed. If I only use it on cool days, well, flies aren't a bother on such days, so it mainly just keeps the horses clean. That is nice. As it is, I now tend to use it as a light blanket liner for layering on our "cold" winter days, when "I" feel the need for the mares to be a bit more bundled.
Also, when I first began using it in the spring when flies became active, the horses shed into it and the hair stuck into the weave, making it into a hair-mat inside, adding extra weight and heat. (I have to use a dog brush and groom my blankets to remove the hair - not what I really want to spend my time doing!).
I found the construction satisfactory and it has withstood the daily turnout of my mares, receiving the normal thread picks and pulls, but the sheet is really only suitable to keep a horse clean in a cool environment.

I will never buy another mesh fly sheet EVER! My horse LOVES his kool coat and he does not rip it apart like he has with every other fly sheet I've put on him. PLUS this fits him very well, versus the fly sheets which DO NOT!! This is perfect and I will never buy anything else for my mustang!

It is not mesh so it makes the horses sweat a lot during the day. It is a lot heavier than I thought it was going to be and the stitching is poor quality. I've had them for two weeks and have sewed each of them 4 times because the stitching on the buckles and black lining is VERY POOR. They are effective in keeping the flies off though haha.

I had to remove the sheet when it was overcast, 70 degrees with 67% humidity, because my horse was drenched in sweat.

Had this for a year now and it only has two small holes it in from my gelding wearing it outside 24/7 in the cooler weather. Keeps him clean but I do not leave it on in hot weather because it doesn't breath well enough for hot Tennessee weather.

I first got it for one of my horses so she wouldn't bleach before shows. She stayed black till i took it off. I moved it onto my other filly who rolls, jumps, and runs like crazy, it stays like glue. Outside the fact it's a little tight in the chest it's a great blanket. Love it!

I will start off by saying, I really do like this sheet. It fits well, doesn't slip, and keeps my horse's skin protected from sun and flies. Unfortunately, the first time I put it on him it was in the upper 80's outside and he begin to sweat after a few hours. I did not put it back on him until it was in the 60's or lower. As long as the weather is only moderately warm, he doesn't sweat and it really is a great sheet. The material is thick and I've had no rips (yet). But my horses aren't very rough on sheets.

This sheet has held really well so far, even with my gelding who rolls a lot, plays with his buddy, and is one 24 hr turnout. I like the fact that it is supposed to help keep him cool as wel as protecting from insects.

My TB gelding only had this for 3 days before the bottom buckles were completely ripped from the fabric. He's in a paddock and not too active, I definitely expected it to last longer than it did.

I had this sheet on my mare who is out 24/7 for 2 and 1/2 days before I had to take it off. She was sweating horribly, although the weather does get kind of extreme 100 degrees with high, HIGH humidity. Within those 2 1/2 days she was able to rip one of the belly buckles almost completely off. Before we bought this we had an older used heavier mesh sheet that had been sitting in a box for years, she wore it for a month an a half and it still looks new nothing ripped.

Since buying this, I have used it with success for keeping flies off of my mare and for keeping her cool and nearly sweat-free in high humidity+95 degree heat. It does well against all flies including deer and horse flies. She had nearly zero bites and none that drew blood after being in the northern backwoods this weekend. It seems durable and, though she doesn't pick fights, she does move around quite a bit and it's stood up to everything I've put it through, including riding her with it on. It fits very nicely and I'd buy another in a heartbeat.

I bought this fly sheet for my black Tennessee Walking mare hoping to keep the sun away. However, after a few weeks of using she managed to rip off both belly straps and the trim on her left side. Normally she doesnt rip her blankets and keeps them as clean as possible. Despite the issues, my horse begs for her fly sheet and comes up to me when she sees it in my hand. I guess I will have to hit the sewing machine.

We have the regular Kool Coats, which are great up to about 80 degrees or a bit more with a breeze, but I got the Kool Coat Lite for the thoughbred, and I have not had to remove it even in extreme hot and humid weather. He is a black bay and not only does it give heat and insect relief, but also keeps him very black. It is narrower in the shoulder, but is perfect for him. Love the other ones too, they work on boxier horses. I hope to purchase more of these soon

It doesn’t matter how good the material is if it's not comfortable for your horse. MY TB mare is in a good share, but she is not big and fat. The blanket was too tight on the shoulders and I am not putting it back on the horse. Poor design, wasted money.

Received this fly sheet today. I was very pleased to find that it was true to size and contored pretty well to my horses back unlike most straight-backed sheets.
The only thing is it is a little tight on the shoulders, but this is typical with my overly large Quarter. The quality is pretty good. Especially for the price!
I am super excited about protected my grey horse form the UV rays, and if the sheet prooves to keep my horse cool (clean is good too) in the summer, then I will buy these for all of my horses!
I definitely recommend it.

I love these blankets and have several extras so I can wash them while the other is worn. the do run larger that size says about 2". My two year old had some slipping through the shoulders. Has been amazing for my Tovero that is mostly white. also keeps my sorrel from bleaching out.

I like the material, however nothing else was as good as I had hoped. (In fact is is going up for garage sale after only 3 uses). Too tight in shoulders, both horses hate it and bite at me when I put it on. (They tolerated their older sheets with the heavier material well) Would be better with front gussets and double closure.

My horse is a Morab/PaintxDraft. He doesn't like to be fly-sprayed so I bought this sheet to help wiht the flies. This sheet is long enough that the flies stay away from his belly for the most part and it keeps him cool because lately we've been having hot, humid, windless days and all the horses except him are sweating. I've already recommended this sheet to my friends.

This is a nicely made product for price. i bought a 78 for an Adalusian It is too long and hangs off his quarters like a size 8o. The shoulders are too tight. This would be a great choice for a horse with narrow straight shoulders and long back.
I like the top with the V binding that will help keep it straight.
The material is very light weight.
I think I should have bought the Kool Coat Classic. It has a gusset and should be more freer in the shoulders.

I like the sheet the horses seem to stay cool and clean. It is still not that hot here yet- we'll see in about a month or so. I don't like that it only has one front closure, but it sits up on the withers nicely and doesn't seem to bother the horses. I bought them for two horses and it stays in place. Shifts a little on one of them. I would recommend it.

It was a different material than I was expecting, but I like it better than what I thought. Sorta worked out for me.
The colors look nice on the horses, and it works like it says. Really hard to rip.
