Rated 5 out of 5 by Great for a busy mouthed horse! I switched my OTTB from a twisted wire O-ring to this bit after I bought him and WOW, he loves it! He has a very active mouth and the roller is perfect for him. The bit is great, hasn't rust and looks nice, too. November 6, 2011

The owner of the boarding facility where I keep my mare recommended this bit. She let me borrow hers, and Honey really worked well in it; she carried it very nicely. Relaxed, nice head set.

how do i know what size bit to get for my TWH mare?

Best Answer: Bit size varies quite a bit within breeds. 5" bits are kind of the "medium" size of the horse bit world, and it can be difficult to find sizes like 5 1/4". However, it is important to find your horse's correct bit size to prevent pinching and other issues. Here is an article from Dover that explains bit sizing in detail. I'm not allowed to post links to outside sites, but search for "horse bit sizing" and it will pull up good articles on ways you can easily do it yourself.
