Needed slobber straps.
CRYSTAL F on Apr 13, 2015
What are slobber straps used for? Because I ride a horse who slobbers all the time, so I just want some info.
Ashlyn D on Nov 10, 2013
Best Answer: slobber straps are used as a hinge for the reins usually with mecate reins. Kind of like a signal when you pick up one side it is a presignal of a command also I heard it was used so small thin reins would not wear out as fast where they made contact with the bit.

If your horse slobbers maybe try another bit or hackamore.

how do you put these on?

Best Answer: It's very hard to describe without pictures. Try typing "how to assemble mecate reins" into your favorite browser, and hopefully that will help. Basically, the slobber straps wrap around the ring of your bit (snaffle) and the reins attach to the slobber straps.
