How do these halter sizes run?
Monica W on Jan 2, 2015
Best Answer: I have a 1000 pound quarter horse, average build. I bought the full size and it fits just fine. the breakaway part does work. My horse's lead rope was accidently caught when she was backing out of the trailer. She just pulled her head back just a bit and the leather strip pulled apart immediately at the Chicago screw. she wasn't scared at all since it didn't take a lot to break. she just seemed annoyed that she couldn't back up when she wanted to. the only problem with the halter is they don't come with extra leather strips. the ones you can buy are expensive for what you get. I wound up going to a shoe repair place and they cut strips of thin leather for $1 each. I bought the in expensive Chicago screws at the craft store to make up spares to leave in the trailer. also the fleece parts are not removable to wash. it seems more people are going to the leather pole piece to break away. I found replacements for that style in regular tack and farming stores. the pole leather strip is thicker than the cheek piece.

does the cob halter fit donkeys?
Maddie on Jan 27, 2015
Best Answer: I'm not sure about it, but it seems as though the cob size would. It fits a Morgan that's the size of a pony and there are still notches that can be tightened up on both the crown and the nose band.
