Product Summary:

Mustad Thrush Buster®

Here’s a thrush treatment so powerful that it lasts for up to eight days without reapplication. . .even in the wettest, muddiest terrain. Thrush Buster® stomps out thrush on contact. A single application not only relieves the agonizing, crippling effects of thrush, but dramatically reduces the chances of reinfection.

  • Forms a cleaner barrier and deters the penetration of dirt and manure
  • More effective than commercial preparations yet milder to sensitive tissue than bleaches, copper sulphate or turpentine
  • Can also be used before applying sole pads and silicone to toughen thin-soled feet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Works GREAT! Great product! My horse is kept out in the field all the time and during this summer we had a lot of rain. She developed a bad case of thrush in all of her hooves. I tried numerous things, but somebody told me to try Thrush Buster. I bought a bottle and tried it. In a about a week her hooves were improving. I am very happy about her hooves, but one thing I don't like is the color. It dyes your hands purple, but I have heard they make a clear. I hope this comes on the site soon! December 31, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great! Where I live it rains 10.5 months of the year and thrush is a common problem. Everyone uses this product. I find that it works well, but you need to be a little generous about the amount you put on the hooves. It isn't that messy, the rain washes it away pretty fast; but I didn't realize how it could get everywhere until I used it on me (white) paint mare in the (lightly colored cement) walkway of the barn. This is a great product, I suggest it to all horse owners! October 22, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Wonderful I was a little skeptical at first, but this really did work at clearing up the thrush! Quickly. Just watch out, dont get it on your hands or clothes it will dye it horses feet were blue for days! He didn't mind that as much as the thrush was worth it! April 18, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by really works i live in the woods and my horse is in the mud most of the time i found thrush buster and tryed it to see if it helps my horses soft hoof. it did help alot over jest one night. this stuff will stane purple and it gets every where but it work very well February 11, 2012
Rated 2 out of 5 by takes more treatments than advertised It works...slowly. After reading reviews I purchased a bottle. My horse gets thrush in his front feet. Used as directed and it has been 2 plus weeks and the thrush is still not entirely gone. Oh, and what about the mess! Probably won't use this again. August 25, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by It works My horse gets thrush ALL the time so we use the thrush buster and we dont have to worry about him getting thrush at least for the next week or 2 April 24, 2010
Rated 4 out of 5 by Does the job but creates a mess! This works great on my gelding and kills the thrush within 1-2 applications but it is a big mess. You have to hold the bottle a certain way other wise a lot comes out all at once and if you get it on anything prepare for it to be staned for at least a week (hence, hands). I also got some on my horses beautiful hite sock and it is now been stained for a week at least! I would only reccomend if you have thrush that is getting out of control and need to kill it fast. I would also reccomend a hoof moisturizer along afterwards. April 20, 2010
Rated 5 out of 5 by Thrush Bust...ed My two horses have consistently had issues with tender feet due to thrush but the Thrush Buster does the trick. They are adjusting to barefoot with me doing the trimming and have to have healthy frogs and heels to do well. I used a product 30 years ago like this, maybe it was the same thing then lost track of it, so glad I found it again. With the exceptional amount of snow, wet, mud etc. causing a nasty mess even when manure is picked up twice a day fighting thrush is a real challlenge. Messy, longer necked, smaller diameter applicator tip would be a nice change, maybe a curved one to facilitate the positions necessary to apply in cracks and crevices would be a REAL plus. Do it once, Do it Right. I uses thrush buster on all of my horses after a trim and for maintenance. Even in wet conditions it stays on and works. No one has thrush! Don't bother with the cheap imitations they're thin and don't last!

can thrush buster be used on sheep?
A shopper on Jun 24, 2015
Best Answer: I have horses and donkeys and I used the product on both which worked. I couldn't answer your question on sheep. I would either call the company and ask or ask your vet.

About how many applications are in a bottle?
Sarah on Jun 9, 2014
Best Answer: Hi Sarah - it depends on how many hooves you are treating and the condition of each. I mostly treat mild thrush (live in the Northwest) and use it about once a week in the winter on all 4 feet and for one horse it will last a couple months. When I use on 2 horses for the same amt. of thrush, I can get a month or 2 out of it. Again, using on all 4 hooves once weekly. For more seriously cases, I would say you would get a dozen applications or so. The bottle is small but don't be deceived, a little goes a long way. Hope this helps! -Heidi

can this be used on sheep?
Carolyn B on Nov 21, 2015
Best Answer: I'm not really sure but I don't see why not. They're a hooves animal so if they were mine I would do it. Maybe check with your vet just to be sure. I know it works perfectly for my horses!
