I want to have a hack - the two reviews were positive for this and other reviews were negative for others so I believe the state line reviews are honest

I just bought your 'Mustang leather breaking hackamore' item # E 001297, and I would like to get more precision on how to fit it on my horse and how to adjust it ? Thank you !
Delphy F on Jan 26, 2015
Best Answer: With the hackamore you want it high enough so it doesn't tip over the front of the nose, bit low enough to be effective. It shouldn't fit like a nylon halter it will sit lower, it doesn't need to be tight. When it's on, put the reins over the neck as if you are riding, lift slightly as if backing or a whoa. The bottom of the hackamore should lift the top should dip down slightly. This one is very forgiving. Good luck and enjoy!

I'm thinking of using the hackamore for a standard sized donkey. Is the size adjustable?
Charlotte R on Aug 18, 2014
Best Answer: The headstall is adjustable. I'm using it on an Arabian cross & I have it set almost as small as it will go for him. I haven't been close to a donkey (except miniature) in years. So not sure of the proportions on their heads.

I have a small arabian gelding who is being started under saddle, and completely refuses to take a bit. Would this be a good fit, and something good to teach him with?

Best Answer: If you're starting out I would try the rope halter that has the rings on the side to start plow reining and then helping you to later on neck reining. The bosal is best suited as a graduate after they've got basic reining down. I do love this particular bosal but I had to start with the snaffle first before going to the bosal.

Can a Mecate rein be used versus the split reins that come with this set?
A shopper on Sep 1, 2015
Best Answer: Technically, yes. However, you will need to cut the split rein from the noseband and secure the mecate rein.
