will this pad fit and average to large horse?
cheryl p on Nov 19, 2014
Best Answer: My horse is 14h and it fits her very well. I have used this saddle on ponys and on draft horses. The only thing I do not like about this saddle is the stirrups are placed too far back, which throws your balance off. When you receive the saddle, move the stirrups up to the same ring that the girth attaches to.

I'm not sure which size to get on this product. 14/15 or 16/17?.. How do I figure that out?
Janet L on Apr 1, 2015
Best Answer: In a regular western saddle, I use a 15 inch. However, when I purchased this awesome saddle I did so for my daughter to use in the 16 inch. I have found that it fits for me as well. Don't think you can go wrong either way. I so use this with a pad and cannot ground mount with it. But my horse and I enjoy this light weight comfortable saddle. There is a slight learning curve so give it a couple rides. State Line tack is very prompt if you need to return/replace for any reason. Happy trails!!!

Are there D rings in the back of the saddle also or are there just 2 in the front?
susan M on Dec 23, 2014
Best Answer: Just on the front -the D Rings are truly only where the carrying piece attaches to the saddle

Pray this helps and Merry Christmas!

What is the longest length the stirrips extend out to?
Caitlyn A on Feb 22, 2015
Best Answer: I'm sorry, the manufacturer does not provide that measurement. All stirrups are adjustable and can have additional holes added if needed.

Do I need a pad with the soft shell rider?
A shopper on Jan 29, 2015
Best Answer: No, the pad is really just to protect your equipment from the horse and keep it clean. I use do use a thin pad. (This is what I use: A thick pad would probably not work as well and increase the likelihood of the saddle slipping.

Can you ground mount ?
A shopper on May 14, 2015
Best Answer: I personally mount from a mounting block, but it seems sturdy enough that I could mount from the ground. I did read a comment when I was buying mine and she said she was heavier and could mount from the ground using the stirrups. I love mine, I want to buy something for under it. I bought a half pad and it is a little to small. I think the material made a rub mark but it also could be, she is just losing her winter coat. The last couple years her coat lost a lot of hair and she almost went bald in some places but the vet was never concerned. It could just be from that. I just have to wait and see. :) I love mine as my horse hates, I mean does anything to keep a saddle off of her, but will let me use this and I feel more comfortable than just bareback.

I have a 22 year old mustang with a high wither and a short back. Do you think the soft ride saddle is wide enough in the front t area?
Sandy D on Apr 22, 2014
Best Answer: I would think it would be fine as long as he doesn't already have a raw spot on his wither. This is a completely treeless saddle, so when you cinch it down it sits on the horse's back and withers. There is about 3-1/2 or 4 inches of very soft padding so the saddle doesn't hurt their back at all.

My horse is 20 with what they call mutton shoulders, no wither, and a very short back. He loves this saddle and so do I. It fits both of us really well. The saddle sits right down on his wither and because he is so round I have to cinch pretty tight. We recently rode for about 2 hours, and there was no rubs on his withers. I do use a soft pad under the saddle that doesn't have anything in the center which will irritate the withers.

can you replace the nylon billet and off billet with leather straps?
Cheri F on Jun 28, 2015
Best Answer: Unfortunately, my horse is just healing from a groin injury, I have just been riding 10-15 min at a time bareback til she gets in shape, haven't had a chance to use mine but I have replaced cinch strap and billet with leather

How are the stirrups straps secure if they attach with velcro to the saddle?
G W on May 4, 2015
Best Answer: There are 2 velcro straps and they are extremely strong. I do not use stirrups to mount, but they have never came apart (for lack of better term) while riding. I love this little saddle and my horse does too. Like the fact that it is so light and comfortable. No there is a slight learning curve. Give it a couple rides before you decide. I do use it with a pad for some breathability. I look forward to many more trail rides with this.

What girth do you recommend to use witth this? Can you attach a breast collar to it? Can you attach a small saddle bag?
DeeDee on Mar 4, 2014
Best Answer: It is Western any type you like will has rings for a breast collar, No on the saddlebag I think....I attach a water bottle sling, but not sure of a saddlebag. When I trail ride I have a 2 sided gizmo that I have hooked onto the pony blanket I use with it. The pix doesn't show a pad or blanket, but you will need a small blanket with it. I love the simplicity of the "pad" and the close contact. I use it with a gaited Rocky Mountain and it is perfect for us both.

Would you buy it again? Is it well made? Will it fit over a horse with withers?
Tara S on Sep 19, 2013
Best Answer: Tried this saddle on all 3 of my horses. One has high withers and a sway back, older horse. Other 2 are big quarter horses. Fit all 3 fine. Didn't use any pad with saddle this time. Worked great and stayed in place well.

will different stirrups fit this pad?
cheryl p on Nov 19, 2014
Best Answer: Yes, I have tried two other styles of stirrups on it and they fit fine. You can also remove the stirrups entirely, which I have also done, so you are riding just on the pad.
