My husband does lots of lifting on our farm. He needs good support so he won't injury his back further.

I've had good service from an earlier purchase of this item. Now I need a larger one, and expect the same good service from this product.

What waist size constitutes small, medium & large?
Stu R on Apr 30, 2014
Best Answer: Over the years, I have purchased several of these for myself, family members and friends with back discomfort. They work well to keep back muscles warm and relaxed. I think I purchased large for all. Largest person was probably a 38 waist.

I need a back brace for sacral (S1) and lowest lumbar (L5) support. Do any of the professional choice product focus only on that area?
A shopper on Jul 22, 2015
Best Answer: All I can say is that I have lower back discomfort when carriage driving without my Professional Choice back brace. No discomfort if I wear it. I did a lot of walking in my job at an aircraft plant, my posture is not great. When I had back discomfort, I wore for about an hour and felt so much better. My farrier sometimes has back discomfort after wrestling with an uncooperative horse, I bought one for him. He said it really worked for him. I think that for me, the gentle support without rigid stays, and the body heat generated under the back support, relax the tense muscles and allow for the healing increase in circulation. For your specific problem, I would ask a physical therapist.

Would it be good for horse training?
A shopper on Aug 25, 2016
Best Answer: I don't know exactly what you have in mind as horse training can cover a lot of different areas and scenarios but if what your refering to involves any kind of possibility of straining your back, the answer is yes. I bought this to help protect my back while caring for my wife who was totally bed ridden and unable to do anything for herself. When lifting or turning her, I always made sure I had the back support on.

I had an older one that I bought many years ago and it was worn out. I used it when trimming and shoeing my horses as the horses I had at the time tended to lean on me quite a bit as well as pull on me and I also had a touch of arthritis in my hips and lower back. This back support made the difference in allowing me to continue doing my own farrier work as opposed to having to carry my animals to someone else.

I recently injured my back (Fracture T-12). My doctor suggested a back brace for riding. Does the Pro Choice back support, Support that area?
Megan G on Aug 11, 2016
Best Answer: The support covers the same area shown in the photo. The T-12 vertebra may be just above that area depending on how tall you are. Here is a link to the measurement chart to help you decide:
