Why did you choose this? Store
more padding but light weight for trail riding.
Rinda C on Oct 2, 2015
Trust the brand and material (wool); the contoured topline and quarter inch thickness should avoid adding significant bulk that would change a good saddle/pad fit, while protecting the more expensive working pad and/or show blanket.

thought it would add padding, but too thin

I have one already and I just love how clean it keeps my saddle pad.

Does this page have any stitching around the edge or down the spine?
A shopper on Nov 2, 2014
Best Answer: It has a strip of nylon webbing down the spine but no stitching around edges. This is a great pad liner and has been holding up well I've had the same one for a year now

Can I use this liner for a saddle pad only?
Jeannie W on Aug 30, 2015
Best Answer: I would not suggest it. It is a very thin felt. It is meant to protect your more expensive pad from horse hair, wear and tear. I bought it because my daughter had an acrylic fleece pad that kept slipping. This liner did a great job of keeping her regular pad in place. But, I say again, it is VERY THIN. It will provide NO protection between saddle and horse.

How thick is it? Does this come in a "barrel" style
Linda M on Jul 21, 2015
Best Answer: This pad has worked quite well for us. I was afraid it might make the saddle and the show pad slip, but everything stays in place for us while keeping the nicer show pads clean. I also have a couple to use under my daughters work pads. - I thought these might be easier to keep clean (wash) than trying to clean her heavy work pad. One of her horses tends to have a problem with rain rot (Bay) and I thought each horse having their own might prevent us from spreading the problem to her horse that does not have the problem with rain rot (Palomino Paint). So far we have been quite pleased with the pad liners. I also think they will hold up quite well, although I have not washed one yet - by hand or in the washer. I do periodically brush them off to remove hair or hay. I think it is about 1/4" thick, although I don't have one here with me as I am answering your question. I don't know about the barrel style, but I have thought about cutting one to use under my daughter's English saddle pads. I think it could work quite easily, I just haven't made the time to do it yet, although it probably would save me time and money because the nice white English pads can get looking grubby pretty quickly, even if you are careful. I would save time, money on laundry, and would be easier on the English saddle pads by not having to go through the laundry as often. So it might work to cut one down for the barrel style too. Sorry about the lengthy answer! LOL!

Is this padded enough to go under a thick Mayatex Arroyo show pad?
julia a on Nov 26, 2015
Best Answer: I use my pad under a Reinsman Tacky Too Navajo pad. I am not familiar with the type of pad you are using. It stays in place and absorbs sweat. It is not too thick. and stays in place while riding. I hope this helps.
