Why did you choose this?
You describe this pad as having a wool "backing." Is that referring to the lining that goes next to the horse? if so, what is a man-made type of wool? Also, is the top merino wool?
Best Answer: Yes, this pad is lined with soft merino wool. 100% wool navajo blanket top.
Does this saddle slip? It doesn't say what the underside is made of, and my mare is a very round QH. It's beautiful, but I need traction for my girl!
Best Answer: The underside is wool or a manmade type of wool. I have used these saddle pads for many years. The first one I bought was for a very round quarterhorse. I found after she sweated into it once or twice it did not have any more tendency to slip than any other pad. I did use a breast collar for that particular horse for awhile just for my peace of mind. I like the washability of these pads and their very good looks under a saddle.
Stateline lists the size choices but not which way the sizing is: Which is length (front of saddle to rear) and which is width (side to side)??
Best Answer: 33 is the length from withers to hip. 38 is the length from right side (or left) up and over and down the other side. The length (38) allows a little more of the pad pattern to show under your saddle behind your legs.
