Why did you choose this?
How thick is the riser at the back of the pad?
Best Answer: It's about 1 and a half inches at the thickest part, but it compresses a little after you ride in it.
does this relief pad have flexibility and conform to the horse, does it have give? Are the edges sharp?
Best Answer: Hi Terri,
I purchased one in September and I have used them for years. The edges are smooth and they are very flexible and light weight. As far as conforming to your horse and saddle they definately do. I would suggest using the same one on your horse if you have more than one horse buy one for each horse. After time and the more you ride with it the more it conforms and keeps the mold. Hope this helps in your decision! Beth
My horse is slightly dips just behind withers would this help bridge that?
Best Answer: This pad is intended to lift the cantle (back) of the saddle so that the pommel and cantle are about level. (The thick part of the pad goes under the cantle.) If your horse has hollows on either side of the withers, you may want to look at a pad with pockets for shims at the wither area. This way, you can add extra padding where you need it without tipping the saddle out of balance. There are many saddle fitting videos on YouTube that will help to illustrate how the saddle should rest on the horse's back. I recommend you take a look at these and then work with a certified saddle fitter who can help you choose the most appropriate solution.
What is the length of this pad?
Best Answer: The pad length is 21". The riser area length is 11".
