best riding & most comfortable saddle I have ever ridden sits very much like a dressage saddle.

Is this made to fit a mule and is it made for civil war reenactors?
jim l on Nov 30, 2013
Best Answer: We had a couple of real calvary saddles in our barn when I was young, and I rode my Welsh ponies with it, and it fit them just fine. There is a split down the middle of the seat, so I would assume that they would fit almost any rideable animal!I'm no expert, but you could email the company that makes them. I'm sure they could advise you much better and more accurately tham me. Good luck!

What is the best pad to use with this saddle?? I was looking at the barrel type pads but does it need to be longer due to the drop ring rigging??
Tracey D on Aug 8, 2014
Best Answer: I just use a standard square-ish (30x32) Western pad with mine, and have not had any issues with the ring rubbing. However, I only use the saddle for short periods of time (Cavalry class competitions). You may want to consider a dressage-style or Aussie-style thin pad under your barrel pad, if your horse has issues. Note: The girth that ships with this saddle is really long, way too big for my 15h QH. You may want to get a shorter girth, taking into consideration the extra length of the drop rigging.

saddle sizing for saddle to horse? How do I know if this saddle will fit my horse?
Gary J on Jan 26, 2015
Best Answer: I've owned two McClellans and I love them. I use one on my quarter horse and one on my Tennessee walker. I believe they work on all types of horses because they used them on every kind of horse during the civil war. The stirrup leathers let your legs move freely and this takes the pressure off your knees. I recommend this saddle
