I had no problem getting these on. The holes are too big for my jr cowhorse bit that I ordered for. They would work better for thicker mouthpiece bits like Tom Thumbs for example.

I got these bit guards on a whim, hoping maybe my gelding would be unable to chew on the shanks of his western bit and the reins on his english bridle, and it worked! Not only was he unable to ruin anymore reins, his bit quit pinching him and he quit throwing his head. Used them in a show ring and still placed, but it was an open show, so maybe the judge wasn't really that worried about it. But these bit guards are worth buying. I didn't have a problem getting them on/off a Tom Thumb bit, Kimberwicke, or full cheek snaffle bit. Just put some heart into it and they'll stretch!

Easy to stretch, however as others have said, they can't possibly stretch over snaffles, so I cut mine and added Velcro strips so I can use them on other bits. I suppose you could probably cut it an glue it once it's on your bit too :) at this price I'll be buying more! Great to keep snaffles from pinching the corners of the mouth/pulling through :)

They are nice, but i got mad after i couldent get it over my loose ring snaffle, and it ripped almost all the way through, i boiled the other one and it went on. i black taped the other one and they worked well on my pony but my gelding they made the bit alot smaller because they are stiff, had to cut them off

Works well! They are hard to stretch and get on.. .but if you live in AZ just put em' outside for an hour and stretch em right on!
I use these on my loose ring snaffles. I have one set for each bit. 2 bits. 2 horses. Both are excellent! They make my bits more comfortable to wear.

I love these guards. Just slip it over one end of the cheek, slide it down to the mouthpiece, and then stretch it over the other side. Not quite sure what everyone is talking about cutting them/microwaving them??? No need if you know how to put them on correctly. But obviously they won't work for snaffle bits because it can't stretch over the whole ring. Much better than velcro guards!

With the solid bit guard if you make a nice clean cut and then put them on, then crazy glue. You don't have to try to stretch them on and they stay together forever.. you barley see the seam!

I bought these at the tack store recently to go on my loose ring bit. I noticed that the horses go better in it now that I put the bit guards on. The one problem I have with these is that whey are sooooo hard to put on. I didn't have much trouble with the first one, but I had to microwave(!) the other one for a really long time so that it would stretch over the bit ring. It was worth it though!
