Rated 4 out of 5 by can't beat it for the price This is a nice fly sheet for the price. it may not last for years and years but how many fly sheets do? I got my mare the clay/coral color sheet and it looks amazing on her. she stands out among all the other horses who have just the standered white fly sheets. I just love that this sheet is more of a soft mesh rather than the harsh plastic sheets. this sheet is also very easy to wash. i put it in the washing machine and it comes out almost like new. got to love that. I just really like this sheet as a whole, the only issue i have is i wish the belly band could be tightened up a little more. its a little loose but not so loose its going to be a danger to the horse. I have only had this sheet a short time but I already have had people at my barn ask where i got this sheet. At this price I'm sure I will buy more in the future. July 8, 2011
Rated 2 out of 5 by Good Looking....But Has Drawbacks I bought this for my Arab/Saddlebred and it fits nicely lengthwise BUT it slips off of her back to the left and hangs off of her nearly upside down! Thinking it was a fluke in her shape, I had a friend of mine, who has a stocky paint, try it out and she got the same result, thought a bit more mild. Neither horse was bothered, but for my own it was a issue of safety. ALSO while using it in the northern backwoods this weekend, the paint horse was getting bit up real bad by the deer flies THROUGH THE SHEET. It did ward off a fraction of the bugs, BUT I would NOT GET ANOTHER. A plus though, is the wide belly strap. July 3, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great light sheet for summer I bought this sheet for my mare whos coat fades easily during the summer. I was afraid that she might get overheated since, living in Texas, there is so much humidity. I went out to check her during the hottest part of the day and she wasnt even sweating. No tears yet. Amazing sheet hangs a little low on the belly, but doesnt cause problems June 28, 2011
Rated 3 out of 5 by Great for the Pric BUT The rope in back under the tail is worthless, and my horses do not like it, it would have been better with a standard clip, Needs more heavier material on the neck. The sheet was a good buy for the prices works well with regular flys but not so much with Horse flys. June 13, 2011
Rated 4 out of 5 by I'm on my 3rd set This will be the 3rd time I have bought this sheet. It is inexpensive, my "three bad boys of the pasture" keep them on with some tears here and there! They are super light weight, they do NOT sweat in them as they do with other plastic sheets, the flys and 'squitos do not bother them. The tail cover/flap protects and helps their poofy tails lay flat. They wash up great and are soft. I have to agree with the other reviews, the tail cord thing is gross! But that is my only complaint. For the money, these sheets last with 6 month, 24/7 wear for my 3 guys! May 21, 2010
Rated 2 out of 5 by Weird Design This fly sheet is great with the exception of the strange design in the back. Instead of having leg straps, it has a thick cord that forms a loop around the rear to hold the back in place. Problem is, every time your horse poops, he poops on the cord. It gets pretty gross. Rated 4 out of 5 by Saxon Flysheets My pony suffers from sweet itch and is constantly rubbing even with a flysheet on. I have tried every flysheet around including some very expensive ones and they have all ended up getting ripped and caught on fences which can be dangerous if they do not break easily. This Saxon rug was recommended to me as it is cheap, lightweight and well shaped. I brought it because it is cheap as I anticipated having to replace it regularly. It seems that it offers good protection from flies but is also so soft and light it is comfortable and my pony does not rub so much. As a result the rug has lasted over a year and has been used extremely frequently. I have machine washed it and it came out nice and clean. There are a couple small rips but these are easy to fix. I have been thrilled with it and so has my pony. August 30, 2009
Rated 4 out of 5 by Saxon flysheet I have both the standard neck & the combo sheets. Yes, they tear if your horse rubs against a fence or leans into barb wire. I would rather they tear than trap my horse in a bad situation - which happened with a Kensington flysheet. What's a few tears - I can generally mend them if necessary. I like them because they are soft on the horse's skin - not like other sheets I had - stiff and unyielding. I can leave the sheets on for 24-48 hrs if necessary and the horses do not mind. The sheets machine wash beautfilly clean. I can find a few flaws with the sheets: belly bands - they are not snug enough to keep flies off the belly line. I have to take binders clips to snug up. The clips work well because they easily pop off if something happens; the tail strap is kind of hokey - most people prefer a leg strap; not sure what the tail cover is for. July 5, 2009

best price I could find on this product!

This is a fantastic flysheet. I have been using the same ones for 4 years. No rips or tears, all hardware still in tact. At this price I can order two. This way my horse has a fly sheet to wear when the other one is being washed. I only bought new ones because I want to give my old ones to an equine rescue group.

Does this have back leg straps ?
A shopper on Aug 7, 2015
Best Answer: No leg straps just a side to side piece of cord that you tie across the hind legs about half way down the back legs.

Does this fly sheet run large or true to size?
Aaryn R on Jun 4, 2015
Best Answer: They run true to size for the average-bodied horse. The belly wrap is a little big on a narrower horse. I myself sewed up the straps for the belly wrap because I was concerned it hung down too low and would not protect her belly. Other than that it fits well.

Does this have D rings for attaching leg straps? I would like to be able to add leg straps
Aaryn R on Jun 4, 2015
Best Answer: Hi Aaryn,
I have 3 of these and use them for daytime or when the horses don't need a heavy blanket at night. They have loops at the back and a heavy cord connects the loops and goes under the tail. I bought the first one because one of the horses had a tumor removed from his belly and I needed something to help keep the belly clean and discourage did the trick.

how to measure for correct fit for fly sheet?
jean p on May 8, 2015
Best Answer: Hi Jean, I think the correct way to measure is from the center of the front of the chest around the side of the horse in a straight line out to the fathest point of the hip. I found the sheet to run a little short and would have gone up a size for my medium built Quarter Horse mare. It helps her a lot with the flies. It lasted about 2 summers. But she was able to tear it. The belly band was way to long for her but I figured out a way to shorten it by fooling around with the elastic on the buckles. Hope that helps.
