Is the thing that goes on your girth a clip or a loop?
A shopper on Feb 22, 2015
Best Answer: it is a loop, but with a buckle (not stitched closed) so you could add a clip if you wanted.

Will pony size fit 15h thoroughbred? Or cob size? She is very slender
Thanks
Racehorse fan on Nov 14, 2015
Best Answer: I would try cob size for your mare ... I tried that size on my 15.2 Mustang, who has big shoulders/chest and it was 'way too small. I think the pony size might be too small for her.

im getting a 16. 1hh thoroughbred. What size should i get?
marilyn m on Sep 22, 2014
Best Answer: My large shouldered ISH wears O/S everything, and the O/S breastplate is a great fit. This breastplate is extremely adjustable though, so you'd likely get by fine with a full size. It really depends on how deep chested your TB is.

I can't tell from the pictures, but is there any elastic in this breastplate?
Diana W on Jul 17, 2015
Best Answer: There is wide, heavy duty elastic that runs through and above the shoulder pad (the one on the upper right in this photo). The rest of the strapping is leather.

EmSoup on May 25, 2015
Best Answer: The leather is very dark brown- not quite black. The elastic is dark brown.

what size should fit a 17 hands tb gelding?
Ty H on Jan 23, 2016
Best Answer: I have a 15.2 baroque-bodied Mustang (large chest, big shoulders). I tried the oversize and it was much too large. The full fits him well when I adjust it to about about a 1/3 of its largest size. You may be able to get away with a full and adjust it close to it's largest size because I'm sure your TB is narrow through the chest.

I have a 15.2 qh with a very broad big chest, would the full size work with her? I've seen some reviews that stated this runs big.
mandy on Jan 9, 2015
Best Answer: no it will not work this is a very big full breastplate we bought it for our TB he is 16.3 and big chested and it is too big.

Can I add a standing martingale to this?
Christine C on Dec 13, 2015
Best Answer: The martingale is detachable so yes, you could use a standing one with this breastplate.

I am going to buy this breastplate but trying to figure out what size I would need? I have a thoroughbred gelding he is 16.2-3 hands. He has a big shoulder and has to wear a 84" blanket due to his chest and shoulder.
Karli on Feb 26, 2015
Best Answer: For a horse that wears a size 84" blanket you should probably try the oversize. That may still be too small, but the full size will definitely not be large enough for a 16.2-3 hand horse.
