Similar to other customers, my shoulder gaurd also ripped within a week or two. It has a hole on my horses whithers. The sizing is also SUPER odd. Looks absolutely nothing like the picture. I have a 15 hand quarter horse mare and I ordered a medium. Its loose and worthless at the bottom of it. She had no blanket sores, and then has now developed them on the front of her shoulder and even her leg where the gaurd has been rubbing awkardly. Granted, this is the first year she's been blanketed all winter. Maybe she's just blanket sore-prone. But the gaurd still should have helped.

This Protect is very good it does its job but is not very sturdy. Mine ripped after only three days. My idea would be to get the material and make your own. my horse is so happy after get this.

Ordered a Medium for my 15h horse - looked ridiculous! The neck opening was really small (and yes, I opened the neck band) so it looked like he was wearing a turtleneck. It covered about half of his neck. But I'm not sure a Large would work better, as the rest of it seemed sized properly. (Just a tip: Got a Weatherbeeta one from a friend - size m - fits perfectly.)

My new blanket is rubbing my Appy/WB shoulders. Got a L based on the size reccomendations but it is WAY too small, wouldn't even fit down to the withers. Now I have to buy another one and wait for it too!

My old mare requires blanketing now in the winter and her shoulders were getting rubbed raw by the heavy blanket. Bought one of these midway through last winter and before winter was out, the hair on her shoulders was growing back. Then this fall she cut her shoulder high up by the withers. Couldn't bandage it and couldn't suture it. And did I mention she loves to roll? The Shoulder Guard saved the day by keeping debris out of the wound while it heals. Just bought another one as the first is really starting to fall apart. It tears easily and is wearing thin, but well worth the money.

My horse had sores from her blanket and i was not going to buy another new blanket. So i bought the shoulder guard. WOW did it help! Although the hair did not grow back right away the sores healed and my horse was no longer irritated. IF YOUR HORSE HAS SORES BUY THIS. It is 100% worth your money(: I do not feel there are any flaws in this product!

I started with the guard as soon as I noticed the blanket rubs. Within a week I noticed his hair grew back. This is a great buy for the comfort of your horse!
