Rated 5 out of 5 by Seams to work just fine I bought this blanket for my older blind mare. I was concerned when I read all the ratings that she would tare it up. She scares easy, being blind, and runs into things sometimes (even though she's been in the same pasture for 4 years and nothing has changed). But her blanket, of two weeks, seams to be holding up fine. I ordered it one size big, because everyone said it was small, and it fits her fine snug but fine. And so far is holding up, in fact she seams quite comfortable in it. No rips so far. So we'll see, but so far I recommend this blanket January 23, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love This Blanket Ordered one for my 9 month old colt with the hood. Stays very clean, holding up wonderful, great burgundy color. Wonderful blanket for the price! February 11, 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by disappointed The front belly strap is several inches shorter than the back strap; shorter enough that the straps cannot be crossed to help prevent slipping. The first night my horse wore this blanket in his stall the side was ripped. January 31, 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by Junk blanket I bought this one for my 4 yr old palomino, last month, it lasted maybe a week. It is nothing but junk. It rips easily. Just turning around and bumping the side of the stall ripped it. There are no nail in the walls it simply ripped by hitting up against the board. I have a blind horse with a name brand blanket on, he runs into everything and does not have one rip in his in four years. Spend the extra money and get a better brand, this one is cheap but it is not durable like they claim. January 22, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love It! For the price i expected cheap quality, but to my surprise it was nice quality. i bought two. one for my 8 month old and one for my 13yr. Have had them for 2 weeks and they still look brand new! yes i do turn them out in them! January 12, 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by Very Undersized This blanket is made of excellent materials and the workmanship appears to be good. BUT, it is very undersized. My horse wears a size 76; this blanket fits her like it was a size 70! I am exchanging it for a size 82!!!! December 3, 2011

does this blanket have leg straps?
T.Johnson on Nov 6, 2013
Best Answer: Yes, I believe it did. I wouldn't buy anything that didn't because if my horse laid down to roll or sleep I didn't want her to get the blankets all messed up. I bought a Hug Stable blanket for my new horse. Same deal

is the blanket waterproof?
A shopper on Nov 30, 2014
Best Answer: Stable blanket information say's no. Inside use or with sheet over it. I honestly never used the two blankets. (He was under weight when I bought him and the blankets. When he put on the weight he needed they didn't fit.) I would buy turn out one's or have someone waterproof it. (Or you can use waterproofing from stateline tack, Wal Mart, fleet and farm, or farm & fleet. Some people also use rain sheet's over them. I use two blankets if it's really cold so I put waterproofed one over stable one. Good luck. :-)

How do the leg straps fasten?
John W on Dec 1, 2014
Best Answer: They go around the back legs, up near the belly. On the photo used, they would not be visible as the blanket hangs over them. I've found that the blanket stays on without using the straps. They could be useful in more windy weather.

how do i know the size i need to buy?
laaura on Jul 20, 2014
Best Answer: Make sure it is available. I ordered it and got confirmation on the order and that it had been shipped then got a notice that they didn't even carry this product. Thought there was a glitch so I re-ordered and got the same thing.

Measure from front center of chest to back center of rear end. I have a 15" stout quarter horse and got him a "78 which is just hair to big but better big than too small.

How many grams of holofil does this blanket have?
Mark H on Feb 17, 2014
Best Answer: I don't remember the exact grams of holofil, but I can say the blanket is warm and very light. Temperatures in clovis ca didn't get any lower than 30 degrees in December and have been in the 40's at night. The blanket kept my horse comfortable, however we didn't have a winter, and therefore the blanket would tend to make the horse sweat once sun came out and temperature reached 50 to 55 degress.

Best Answer: Use a helper; to get more accuracy this is a two-person job. With a soft measuring tape, start at the center of the chest and go across the widest part of the shoulders and barrel to the back edge of the haunches. What you are actually measuring is one entire side of the blanket, from where the chest buckles meet in front to the binding at the back edge. If you are between sizes choose the one closest to your measurement. Measure your horse more than once to be on the safe side.
