Rated 1 out of 5 by Don't waste your money - flimsy - all in the trash I love the ergonomic design of this bucket with a horse's head in mind and was excited to replace all my 10-year old Fortiflex buckets with this new design and bought 8 of them. Big mistake. My Fortiflex buckets are a bit ugly and beat up, but they are safe and they work. These "better" (ha ha) buckets are so flimsily made that they haven't lasted six WEEKS let alone six months or years. The plastic is so thin that it literally tears right off the bucket holders with a light amount of horse bumping. We spend quite a bit of time reinforcing the cracks and tears with first duct tape, and then actually heat welded on plastic patches, but with repeated use, the buckets literally split and tore. The handles ripped out of the plastic, and the handles also had to be crimped shut in a vice to make them safe. I have spent more labor hours on these worthless buckets than I have to spare. What a waste of time and money, and they are all in the trash now, and I am back to by good old ugly round standard fortiflex buckets. June 10, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Truly the Better Bucket! This bucket is great! I used to have a rubber feed pan that sat on the ground for my horse's grain, but he was always moving/playing with it, and it would get full of bedding, etc., and it was hard to clean. Also, if I had to give him bute or any other medication, he would tip the bucket over and pick around the medication. This bucket has fixed those problems. There's no wasted grain and he always gets all his meds! May 7, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Bucket Why did I not order these sooner? I have no more wasted grain, and nothing gets tossed around. My QH feels so comfortable eating out of them! April 23, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Good Product Love this bucket, last up to my 9 year old Thoroughbred!! Just worries me a little with the handle the rubber cap fell off had to use ducktape. April 22, 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by good idea, bad design For the price I expected a "better buck" design and quality. The handle atachment hardware is cheap and thin. It bends and allows the handle to pop out of the bucket hardware. Then it's next to imposible to get it back in without tools and forcing it back in. My horse had it off the wall in one day with the handle and hardware detached. Bucket was fine but after putting it back together he did it again. Cheap thin plates hold the metal loop on the bucket for the handle to attach and thats what gets pulled through the slots and there goes your handle. April 16, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Awesome Bucket My guy doesn't have to shake his bucket for the feed any more. BUT they do need to work on the handle as it is an accident waiting to happen! Duct tape or electrical, just watch the hooks! February 16, 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by Hazardous Bucket These buckets are not safe. Where the wire handle bends after connecting with the plastic bucket, it? does not pinch shut. One horse at our barn got his nose pinched in it and ripped as he struggled to get free. My horse has got two blankets caught in this "unclosed pinch" and tore them both up. DO NOT buy these buckets. Rated 4 out of 5 by Stands up to Its Name Only 1 flaw I can find which are the plastic covers on the ends of the handles. Most fell off in just 1 or 2 feedings. I wrapped ends w/duct tape. Other than that, these buckets are great. January 11, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Really Love the Bucket - NOT Spillproof, Though! This really is a nice bucket; very easy for my horse to get his head in to! However, he really enjoys slinging it around and still manages to dump his feed out. (Which I bought it to fix...) Either way, I really love the design and plan on using it on my mare as soon as I get him a new bucket! January 4, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by L-O-V-E this bucket, and so does my horse! My horse got to quit pushing her grain around and around and around her round feed pan, and on top of that there seems to be very little waste (from her dribbling) grain. I love this. Bought a large one to begin with and then ordered a small one too. November 26, 2011
Rated 4 out of 5 by Better than the avg. bucket Thought the idea a great one, though still think the handle could be worked on a little more, as I found my horse's brow still hits off it while enjoying his favorite meal :o) November 17, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great bucket It has worked with my livestock so seamlessly. all grain finished out of bucket, it is such a great idea. Awesome to travel with. August 4, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Greatest idea Horses can't get their faces in the other buckets and they would rub. This is the best idea ever. Very sturdy bucket. Genius!! July 22, 2011

Why did you choose this? Store
easier for horses to eat from than standard round/flat back buckets or corner buckets

square buckets are easier for horses to get their heads in and they last longer

Love this bucket. I had purchased this in a store a year ago, but I think my horse must have become cast in her stall and shifted her large salt block(which she never did before) and the bucket was kind of crushed, but still usable after a little stretching of the plastic. This purchase will replace the old bucket since it is no longer laying flat against the wall.

Best Answer: The small bucket is 2.5 gallons; the bottom measures 6" x 7" front to back and side to side. The upper (open) measurement is 12" wide (side to side) and 16" front to back.

The large bucket is 5 gallons, with the bottom measuring 7.5" x 9.5 inches and the upper 15" x 20".

They both slant in such a way that it really is easier for the horses to get all the feed out of the bottom.

I have one caution to share: please put duck tape around the wire handle where it attaches to the bucket. One of my horses had an itchy eye one evening, rubbed it on that very area and almost tore his whole eyelid off. It was hanging by about 1/4 inch. The vet had to make a 9PM emergency call to stitch him up. Now I wrap that part thoroughly so nothing can get caught in the narrow space where the wire makes a u-turn to attach. It may come with little rubber tips, but they don't stay on very well. I have heard others say that a halter got snagged in that space with undesirable results. WRAP it!

I really love the buckets. They hang nicely from a "flat back" bucket hanger.
