Tough-1 210 Denier Turnout Blanket is the most affordable product to keep your horse warm and dry.

Features:
    • 210 denier poly - Very Light Material Strength-Not Recommended for horses that bite, chew or rub on blankets or for horses turned out with a companion or in a group. Material will tear or rip if caught on a nail, rough fencing or thorns from bushes.
    • 150g Polyfill- provides light/medium warmth and protection from wind and rain.
    • 210 Denier Poly Lining - Prevents rubbing and helps to keep the coat shiny while preventing hair, shavings, and straw from sticking to the inside of the blanket.
    • Waterproof - coated outer shell with taped seams and seamless spine repels water to keep your horse dry.
    • Breathable - Designed to allow moisture vapor to pass wick away from the horse and preventing sweating while retaining body heat and repelling outside coldness.

Specifications:

  • Measuring Instructions - Stand your horse as square as possible, measure from the center of chest around side of the body to the point of the horse's rump just before the tail. If you horse ends up measuring between sizes always round up to the next size to ensure full coverage.
  • Washing Instructions - Machine wash with cold water – Gentle cycle with mild detergent. Air Dry or Machine Dry/No Heat
  • Horses Turned Outside without Shelter - Turnout Sheet and Blanket materials are waterproof and designed to keep your horse dry, however if your horse is turned out in a field without a run in shed or shelter during prolonged rain or heavy downpours your horse may still get wet especially in the neck and tail areas.
  • When using a blanket or sheet it is critical to monitor the fluctuating climate and temperatures even with a blanket that is waterproof and breathable. The wicking properties of a breathable blanket are designed to wick away normal body heat, when a blanket is too heavy the heat and moisture cannot be wicked away fast enough causing your horse to sweat. The temperature and the length of your horse’s coat will determine what weight of blanket you should use. For this reason, most people who choose to blanket horses have several articles of horse clothing that offer varying levels of warmth.

  • When selecting a blanket ensure to take into account your horse’s behavior, environment or other horses that may be turned out with your horse. The lower the denier number the less strength the material has. 420 Denier and 600 Denier are not recommended for horses that bite, chew or rub on blankets or for horses turned out with a companion or in a group. Always ensure your horse’s blanket is properly fitted and all straps are adjusted correctly, if a blanket is too tight or too loose, straps may break and material may tear.  For younger horses or horses turned out with a companion or in groups, it is recommended to purchase 1200 Denier or 1680 Denier material as these are stronger materials and are less likely to tear. Certain types of fencing such as barbwire or foreign objects such as nails will easily tear any blanket no matter what the denier, always inspect the area in which your horse is kept to remove any nails or jagged fencing that may cause damage. There are no horse blankets that are guaranteed to not rip or tear.

Honestly, I wasn't expecting much at that price but I've been pleasantly surprised. No rips, no tears and a happy horse - a great value! Add super customer service and prompt delivery and I can only think of two words... Thank you!

Surprised by the Waterproof!, 12/15/2012

AGEdTeach from Carefree, AZ

I was surprised that this blanket has held up for 2 days in constant rain on my 2 horses. Both are dry (a few inches past the neck opening obviously) when I thought surely it would have soaked through by now. My older horse even rolled in the mud and he's dry. I stable mine separately and they don't get turned out together, but they do fight over the fence and so far no rips or tears yet. Have to say, I'm still waiting for them to disappoint but they show no signs of doing so yet. I may just get the neck piece to go with them. For the price, you can't beat it.

Good Blanket, Great Price, 12/12/2012

Shai from NC

Great blanket for hard-to-fit horses like mine. A 75" fit my Arabian/Saddlebred perfect and will even fit my thicker-built QH. Probably wouldn't be good for a horse that is harsh on blankets...but so far, in my brush-filled pasture, it has held up perfect and still looks brand new. Easy to clean, material is comfortable and non-abrasive like some blankets...and so far, hasn't rubbed in the usual places. My horse loves it, I love it, and I love the price! I plan to buy three more for my other horses. =) PS: Always round your measurements UP to avoid a blanket that is too tight or improperly fit.

Great weight and fit, but flimsy, 2/2/2012

Kansan from Lawrence, KS

This blanket has been just the right weight for most of our mild winter. It's lightweight enough and fits well enough that it doesn't rub. AND, as long as my horse was turned out alone, it held up. But the moment he was turned out with another horse, it ripped. The other horse tugged at the ring where you can attach a neck rug, and it ripped like crazy - all the way through, not just the top layer. Next time I'll invest in a higher denier blanket.

You get what you pay for..., 1/27/2012

hershey from NY

I decided to try it because the price was so great. Well, only 1 week wearing it and it ripped! My guy was in an empty field alone -- with no trees or any other objects to rip it. When we turned him out with another horse, this blanket was completely destroyed! I've purchased many blankets for my 6 horses. THIS IS DEFINITELY NOT WORTH BUYING! It will catch on the smallest thing and will tear. Then one tear will lead to many others. Spend a little more and get a little better quality.

Get what you pay for, 1/16/2012

rob b from South Jersey

3 days into wearing it, my mare managed to rip this blanket right down the middle. Shes not a ruff horse by any means, just CHEAP material. Truth is, you get what you pay for. Im out $40

My Horses and I love these blankets, 1/9/2012

Mmhobbs08 from Canton, Tx

I have a wide range of ages in horses from 8 months, 4 years, and 20 year old horses, and one shed, so they have to wear the waterproof breathable blankets, and after one bad night of rain and 43 degree weather, they stand without halters for me to brush them and put their blankets on. My weanling can roll in the mud and it keeps her dry and clean under the blanket and has yet to rip. non of the blankets I've ordered have ripped.

Nice Blanket, 11/20/2011

AH from NC

I got this blanket in a med weight and a sheet for my mare. She isn't particularly hard on blankets, and thus far after several wears she has not ripped it yet. And she has rolled every single time she's been in it. However, a couple of days ago she did somehow manage to rip off the leg straps and get them wrapped in a knot around her leg. The leg was unharmed, but scared me! Not sure if this had anything to do with the blanket itself or not, I believe it was just a freak accident. Still don't know how she got tangled up like she did. They were adjusted tight as they could go.

Good price, BAD quality, 4/4/2011

Taryn from Fort Collins, CO

My horse is not hard on blankets at all...I've had the same blankets for him for years. This one ripped by the second time I put it on him. It is definitely NOT tough, as the name implies. They need a heavier fabric...it rips way too easy.

Awesome Blanket, 2/21/2011

Angie S. from Chatsworth, CA

I bought this blanket for my paint mare and she loves it. Lightweight and doesn't shift to any side at all. Keeps her very warm at 30 degrees at night and doesn't make her sweat at 65 degrees in day. I am buying more as they are so worth the price for my other 3 horses.

Not a good turnout, better stall blanket, 1/13/2011

eoch from northwest, Ks

This is a cheap blanket yes BUT doesn't hold up well for turnout. First day had a huge rip. Best suited for stall or turnout without other horses and on a horse that doesn't do much. Does fit well, but the nylon outter is too thin and rips easy. Spend the extra and get a tougher turnout!

Great fit! Not so Tough :(, 12/16/2010

Smoke from Barrington, IL

Great Fit! Not so sturdy. We have 3 of them on the horses. One is not ripped in 3 days:( One was totally shredded in turnout with 1 other horse. The other seems to have torn just in the stall. I have had Rambo and Baker blankets on the same horses and no damage. I was hoping that these would hold up. I love the way that they fit! They just need to be tougher :)
