·         Adjustable Elastic Leg Straps - Help to secure the blanket and prevent from shifting from side to side.

  • Measuring Instructions - Stand your horse as square as possible, measure from the center of chest around side of the body to the point of the horse's rump just before the tail. If you horse ends up measuring between sizes always round up to the next size to ensure full coverage.
  • Washing Instructions - Machine wash with cold water – Gentle cycle with mild detergent. Air Dry or Machine Dry/No Heat
  • Horses Turned Outside without Shelter - Turnout Sheet and Blanket materials are waterproof and designed to keep your horse dry, however if your horse is turned out in a field without a run in shed or shelter during prolonged rain or heavy downpours your horse may still get wet especially in the neck and tail areas.
  • When using a blanket or sheet it is critical to monitor the fluctuating climate and temperatures even with a blanket that is waterproof and breathable. The wicking properties of a breathable blanket are designed to wick away normal body heat, when a blanket is too heavy the heat and moisture cannot be wicked away fast enough causing your horse to sweat. The temperature and the length of your horse’s coat will determine what weight of blanket you should use. For this reason, most people who choose to blanket horses have several articles of horse clothing that offer varying levels of warmth.
  • When selecting a blanket ensure to take into account your horse’s behavior, environment or other horses that may be turned out with your horse. The lower the denier number the less strength the material has. 420 Denier and 600 Denier are not recommended for horses that bite, chew or rub on blankets or for horses turned out with a companion or in a group. Always ensure your horse’s blanket is properly fitted and all straps are adjusted correctly, if a blanket is too tight or too loose, straps may break and material may tear. For younger horses or horses turned out with a companion or in groups, it is recommended to purchase 1200 Denier or 1680 Denier material as these are stronger materials and are less likely to tear. Certain types of fencing such as barbwire or foreign objects such as nails will easily tear any blanket no matter what the denier, always inspect the area in which your horse is kept to remove any nails or jagged fencing that may cause damage. There are no horse blankets that are guaranteed to not rip or tear.

Hopefully a good blanket for the price

Great fit, great price and great quality, thought this blanket doesn't hold up as well as the more heavy duty winter blankets I have from Tough-1. Still a great product.

Great blanket! Keeps my older paint mare warm and snug even on days when the cold wind and rain wont quit. Fits perfect to measured size and is very durable. Good choice for a medium to lighter turnout blanket for a semi-active horse.

How do you measure our horses to get correct size when ordering? Thank you so much!
Lucy M on Dec 17, 2013
Best Answer: Start where neck and chest meet in the middle and measure around the horse to under the tail (hind area)

Is this water PROOF or water Resistant and how lightweight is it?
A shopper on Sep 1, 2013
Best Answer: Hi. The blanket is very light weight & even here in CO it is the blanket I use the is lightweight but very warm. Our barn isn't insulated so on really cold nights (like single digits) I use it as the top layer to a heavier blanket options. It washes up nice but definitely can NOT be put in dryer I melted the straps even on a low setting but I liked this light weight & pretty warm option I didn't hesitate on buying a new one. My horse doesn't live outdoors so I am sorry I can not properly answer the questions about how water resistant it truly is. Otherwise I love this blanket or rather my horse does. I ordered it !n inch or two bigger than I normally would & it can be the base layer (not too big) or top layer no problem.

What size a blanket do I need for a 14.5 hand, 850 lb T. Walker?
kelley d on Dec 7, 2014
Best Answer: I have a QH mare that is 14H and about 950lbs and wears a 70. Ive learned to actually measure each time I buy a new blanket as each is different and I think weights can change based on a number of reasons...saves a return and the disappointment of not getting to use your new blanket right away! ??

Will this keep my horse warm in 0 temperature weather? Is it waterproof? My horse is rather large, would just a sheet keep him warm or should I go with a light weight blanket?

Thank you,
Karlee & Wellington
Karlee C on Jan 3, 2014
Best Answer: Yikes Karlee and Wellington! That's Cold for my AZ horses! ?? I use this or a heavier one depending on the month and temp. Is your horse outside? I wouldn't judge warmth on his size just what you want the blanket to do. I keep mine horses mostly body shaved or light grow back- I just did it so they will have their coat back when it gets cold(it's still 106 here)! I use fly/sun sheets in summer,sheets/slinkys and have this and the heavier one in case! They are waterproof but I always check them even if they wear hoods, not sure everything can be 100% waterproof depending on stable conditions and how active your horse is! And just a FYI- (seems obvious) but I have seen some use and keep on waterproof blankets for long periods of time and not notice weight loss due to the colder conditions. Think I wrote too much, hope some is helpful- Good Luck ??
