Product Summary:

Tough-1 600 Denier Foal Turnout Blanket
Also Perfect for small ponies and miniature horses!
    • 600 Denier Poly - Medium Material Strength-Not Recommended for horses that bite, chew or rub on blankets or for horses turned out with a companion or in a group. Material may tear or rip if caught on a nail, rough fencing or thorns from bushes.
    • 250g Polyfill- provides medium warmth and protection from wind and rain.
    • 210 Denier Poly Lining - Prevents rubbing and helps to keep the coat shiny while preventing hair, shavings, and straw from sticking to the inside of the blanket.
    • Waterproof - coated outer shell with taped seams and seamless spine repels water to keep your horse dry.
    • Breathable - Designed to allow moisture vapor to pass wick away from the horse and preventing sweating while retaining body heat and repelling outside coldness.
    • Heavy Nylon Binding - Double sewn to secure material and provide additional durability.
    • Reinforced Stress Points - Double Sewn with additional reinforcement to help prevent tears.
    • Fleece Wither - Helps provide protection from rubbing.
    • Double Buckle Front Closure - Velcro Secure with double buckle front straps featuring rust resistant nickel hardware.
    • Action Shoulder Gussets - Allow for freedom of movement and help to prevent shoulder rubbing.
    • Single Front T-Lock Surcingle- Provide easy adjustability to ensure proper fit. Referance blanket fitting guide to ensure correct fit.
    • Adjustable Elastic Leg Straps - Help to secure the blanket and prevent from shifting from side to side.
    • Tail Cover -provides additional protection from moisture near tail bone.

  • Measuring Instructions - Stand your horse as square as possible, measure from the center of chest around side of the body to the point of the horse's rump just before the tail. If you horse ends up measuring between sizes always round up to the next size to ensure full coverage.
  • Washing Instructions - Machine wash with cold water – Gentle cycle with mild detergent. Air Dry or Machine Dry/No Heat
  • Horses Turned Outside without Shelter - Turnout Sheet and Blanket materials are waterproof and designed to keep your horse dry, however if your horse is turned out in a field without a run in shed or shelter during prolonged rain or heavy downpours your horse may still get wet especially in the neck and tail areas.
  • When using a blanket or sheet it is critical to monitor the fluctuating climate and temperatures even with a blanket that is waterproof and breathable. The wicking properties of a breathable blanket are designed to wick away normal body heat, when a blanket is too heavy the heat and moisture cannot be wicked away fast enough causing your horse to sweat. The temperature and the length of your horse’s coat will determine what weight of blanket you should use. For this reason, most people who choose to blanket horses have several articles of horse clothing that offer varying levels of warmth.

  • When selecting a blanket ensure to take into account your horse’s behavior, environment or other horses that may be turned out with your horse. The lower the denier number the less strength the material has. 420 Denier and 600 Denier are not recommended for horses that bite, chew or rub on blankets or for horses turned out with a companion or in a group. Always ensure your horse’s blanket is properly fitted and all straps are adjusted correctly, if a blanket is too tight or too loose, straps may break and material may tear.  For younger horses or horses turned out with a companion or in groups, it is recommended to purchase 1200 Denier or 1680 Denier material as these are stronger materials and are less likely to tear. Certain types of fencing such as barbwire or foreign objects such as nails will easily tear any blanket no matter what the denier, always inspect the area in which your horse is kept to remove any nails or jagged fencing that may cause damage. There are no horse blankets that are guaranteed to not rip or tear.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Not a foal blanket! This is NOT a foal blanket. Even the packaging says miniature turnout blanket. This is not a bad blanket but it just doesn't work with any foal I've used it on. It slips and slides all over the place on all the foals I've used it on, I mean it stays on but it slides over completely sideways. The neck also fits weird. If your buying it for a mini then this blanket will be perfect but don't expect it to work well on a foal. December 5, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome Foal Saver Ok this is a awesome blanket, my 3 month Colt Arab/Paint loves it. It keeps him nice and warm and I don't see him shiver at all any more. I got Purple for my Colt I know its more of a girl color but IDK he looks super cute in it the purple really brings out the white in him. Overall I had no problems, works awesome, and shipping was amazing it said it would ship between 6 and 10 days well it only took 3 days I was amazed and very satisfied! :D Great Blanket! Rated 4 out of 5 by Watch the Sizing I bought this bamket for my weanling in pink an black. I was so excited to try it on her and she looks so cute in pink but when i received it and took it out the the barn to try it on her it was way to small for her and I ordered it a size big just to be sure there would be growing room. I sent it back and found another blacket for her. Cute blanket though! Just wish it would have been the size it said it was! November 6, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Our Danes Love It We purchased 2 of these in the size 38 for our Great Danes and they love them. Fit real well and keeps them from getting cold on our walks. You can actually put your hand underneath this blanket and feel the warmth it is holding in. Large dog coats are tough to find and very expensive if you do. This is the perfect fit, price and comfort for our Danes. October 24, 2011
Rated 4 out of 5 by decent blanket I purchased this blanket for my mare and it has held up pretty good. She is warm and dry in it. The only complaints I have are she has gotton it mostly off her once and lost a rubber stopper in the process from the fit being too loose, and one of the gussets stitching is ripping out. My overall view is this... when you need a blanket in a hurry and can't afford the ones running in the hundreds range, this one is at a great price to carry you over til tax time. I am ordering another for her foal as she is outgrowing the expensive foal blanket I purchased that was suppose to grow with her and is now too small just three months later! Really can't complain too much for the price people when comparing to the other winter blankets! However that doesn't include anyone's that falls apart or doesn't arrive with all the features in tact... they should get a free replacement! December 14, 2010
Rated 2 out of 5 by Disapointed I bought this blanket for my horse and in the first week it riped. In the inside it wore away the fabric and the outside got holes and the leg straps riped off.. i would never buy this again i was very disapointed in it. December 3, 2010
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great Turnout for Foals and Dogs! I ordered this blanket, after the unexpected delivery of a foal. It arrived quick, and fit him pretty well and kept him very warm. I got pink, which went really well with his dark coat and he pranced in front of the other horses in his new blanket. So I can say Pet Approval was 5 stars. It has yet to get any rips, and all the buckles and straps still work perfectly. He has outgrown it, but I have recently started using it for my dog [A great Dane], and it fits him pretty well. So it definetely can serve many purposes! I washed it by hand in cold water, and hung it up to dry and it looks as new as the day I got it. It's pretty easy to wash and very durable. It was not as thick as I expected it to be, so I find it a little over priced. It works great for those slightly chilly nights though, so overall I recommend buying it for your little one! Rated 4 out of 5 by Waterproof? I purchased this blanket last year. The rains came and my mini was soaked within minutes, while she was wearing this blanket. It is not waterproof. September 16, 2010

I need a blanket for my mini horse and this one had a fair price.
haley p on Oct 13, 2015
I needed a blanket for Frenzy cause he is the only horse I got at this point and it has been really cold. I tried tying a folded over quilt on him but the more he moved the more the quilt would slide down over his butt, and the price was what I could afford right now. Hopefully the little guy won't tear it up or try to eat it. I have been working with Frenzy to get him used to having a blanket on him, but he still likes to reach around and yank it off.

will it fit a mini donk? have cold donkey in WV and want to get pink blanket for my dad's baby. Good buy or suggestions?
BarrelRacer2672 on Nov 26, 2013
Best Answer: I bought it for a chunky shetland pony but it ended up not fitting and I am now using it on our mini. Its a great blsanket and has stood up to pony wear and tear.
If the donkey is a mini, I imagine it would fit. I love the pink.

Would this blanket work for an English Mastiff dog? We are having trouble finding a coat big enough for walking him in the rain and snow.
A shopper on Oct 31, 2015
Best Answer: I purchased this blanket for a miniature Jerusalem Donkey and I believe a Mastiff is just about the same height. As far as length, if you measure from the center of his chest to the base of his tail (like you measure a horse) you should come up with the right size. I actually have purchased another blanket in a size 50 for him. It's great blanket and fits nicely. Good weather proofing.
