Product Summary:

Tough-1 Wild 600 Denier Turnout Blanket

Protect your horse with the Tough-1 Wild 600 Denier Turnout Blanket. The material is breathable, which allows your horse to stay comfortable. This blanket has all the features you will want to provide your horse with.

  • 600 Denier Poly - Medium Material Strength-Not Recommended for horses that bite, chew or rub on blankets or for horses turned out with a companion or in a group. Material may tear or rip if caught on a nail, rough fencing or thorns from bushes.
  • 250g fill - Provides protection from light wind and rain.
  • 210 Denier Poly Lining - Prevents rubbing and helps to keep the coat shiny while preventing hair, shavings, and straw from sticking to the inside of the blanket.
  • Waterproof - coated outer shell with taped seams that repels water to keep your horse dry.
  • Breathable - Designed to allow moisture vapor to pass wick away from the horse and preventing sweating while retaining body heat and repelling outside coldness.
  • Heavy Nylon Binding - Double sewn to secure material and provide additional durability.
  • Reinforced Stress Points - Double Sewn with additional reinforcement to help prevent tears.
  • Fleece Wither - Helps provide protection from rubbing.
  • Double Buckle Front Closure - Velcro Secure with double buckle front straps featuring rust resistant nickel hardware.
  • Action Shoulder Gussets - Allow for freedom of movement and help to prevent shoulder rubbing.
  • Low Cross Adjustable Surcingles with T-Lock Fasteners - Provide easy adjustability to ensure proper fit. Ensure to reference blanket fitting guide to ensure correct fit.
  • Adjustable Elastic Leg Straps - Help to secure the blanket and prevent from shifting from side to side.
  • Tail Cover -provides additional protection from moisture near tail bone.

  • Measuring Instructions - Stand your horse as square as possible, measure from the center of chest around side of the body to the point of the horse's rump just before the tail. If you horse ends up measuring between sizes always round up to the next size to ensure full coverage.
  • Washing Instructions - Machine wash with cold water – Gentle cycle with mild detergent. Air Dry or Machine Dry/No Heat
  • Horses Turned Outside without Shelter - Turnout Sheet and Blanket materials are waterproof and designed to keep your horse dry, however if your horse is turned out in a field without a run in shed or shelter during prolonged rain or heavy downpours your horse may still get wet especially in the neck and tail areas.
  • When using a blanket or sheet it is critical to monitor the fluctuating climate and temperatures even with a blanket that is waterproof and breathable. The wicking properties of a breathable blanket are designed to wick away normal body heat, when a blanket is too heavy the heat and moisture cannot be wicked away fast enough causing your horse to sweat. The temperature and the length of your horse’s coat will determine what weight of blanket you should use. For this reason, most people who choose to blanket horses have several articles of horse clothing that offer varying levels of warmth.
  • When selecting a blanket ensure to take into account your horse’s behavior, environment or other horses that may be turned out with your horse. The lower the denier number the less strength the material has. 420 Denier and 600 Denier are not recommended for horses that bite, chew or rub on blankets or for horses turned out with a companion or in a group. Always ensure your horse’s blanket is properly fitted and all straps are adjusted correctly, if a blanket is too tight or too loose, straps may break and material may tear. For younger horses or horses turned out with a companion or in groups, it is recommended to purchase 1200 Denier or 1680 Denier material as these are stronger materials and are less likely to tear. Certain types of fencing such as barbwire or foreign objects such as nails will easily tear any blanket no matter what the denier, always inspect the area in which your horse is kept to remove any nails or jagged fencing that may cause damage. There are no horse blankets that are guaranteed to not rip or tear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Big Bang for your Buck! I am not sure why these blankets get such bad reviews. I almost DIDN’T Order it because of them but I figured for the price I didn't have much to lose. That being said I ordered two of these for two younger geldings I have that do nothing but PLAY. They have been on them since the beginning of December thru now (Mid January so far) and.... PERFECT! They are waterproof and keep the boys dry, they have held up really well and they look really cute! ONE of the blankets does have a SMALL hole in it BUT the horse got himself caught on something in his stall and THAT caused the damage NOT them playing, rolling, tugging etc. Also the hole has now been there a few weeks and has NOT got any worse which is impressive that even damaged the blanket is holding up. I think they are worth the $$ for sure, No they are not PERFECT but look at the price! I am on the site today not to write this review but actually to order another of these blankets. Two things to note: 1 - these are not "warm" blankets per say. They aren't filled with anything or fleece lined or anything like that but rather waterproof sheet which will in it of themselves help keep your horses warm. 2 - one of the other reviews mentioned there is no black at the bottom of the giraffe print they ordered. This is true for the giraffe print as well as the turtle, which stinks bc the black did look nice but o well they are still cute. January 16, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Love these blankets I've had a Tough 1 blanket before, although it was a 74" and just a bit too small for my horse. It withstood 2 years of use with only a small tear in the hindquarters, which never got any bigger. I decided to buy a bigger size this year because my horse was getting rubs on her chest and withers. I have to say, this new blanket fits pretty well, although a little small in the shoulder area. My horse is bred for roping, so has a big front end. Everything else fits great and the new modifications in the higher neck makes much better wither clearance. The water beads off this blanket so I hope it stays this way. Horse stays nice and warm and it is brightly colored and beautiful. My old blanket became very un-waterproof very quickly, so I'm not sure how long it will last in that department. But for now I love it, and it's pretty inexpensive for a decent blanket. My horse is alone though, so she doesn't tear around or really have anything to rip it on. *knock on wood* Definitely worth a try in my opinion. Horse is already eating much less hay! Looks sharp! Rated 5 out of 5 by Great vivid colors! Sets your horse apart from the I bought the peace one. It's so vivid and pretty. I am finally getting some use out of it! The weather dropped to the 40s here and my horse doesn't get a winter coat so I blanketed him. My horse is gray and the colors look great on him, its dasy o spot him when hes out with multiple horses in the morning. He's and extremely mouthy 6 year old and is turned out with another horse in the afternoon and the blanket is still intact! December 23, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love it! Bought the zebra print for my appy gelding. He measured in at 68" (purchased the 69"). Keeps him warm and dry when it's snowing out. November 26, 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by Don't waste your money I have actually bought a few of these for my horses because the price and colors are so tempting. Every single one has fallen apart. The belly straps come undone easily and at least one on every blanket was torn off by my horses. The material rips like paper and all of them had huge tears within a month of purchase. They will keep your horse dry in light rain but will soak through on really yucky days. Invest in a Weatherbeeta or an Amigo. You really aren't saving any money on these crappy blankets. Rated 4 out of 5 by Very Durable & Stylish! I highly recommend this turnout blanket! It's warm, durable, and stylish at the same time. I've had this blanket for about a month now and it has came in good use. It is semi thick, but it's good for those horses thin coats. My horse Buttercup has cushing's disease, so it's helped keep her coat from not getting so thick. The only problem I've had with it is that one of the snaps won't hold, but it is really easy to replace. Otherwise, it's been a GREAT blanket! November 13, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Tough-1 Wild 600D turnout sheet I ordered this sheet for my mare and so far I am impressed with it. My mare is a size 80 in other blankets so I ordered a 81 and it fits well everywhere, but it is pretty long on her (not a huge deal). I got the zebra one and I absolutely love it! The price really isn't bad for this product. I would order more! November 7, 2012

Should be a good light weight blanket.

I have found that the Tough-1 Turnout Blankets are easy to get on & off & hold up well.

My horse is very laid back and I always said if he was human he would wear flip-flops 24/7 and have dreads. This is a perfect blanket to keep him warm with all the snaps, tail cover, extra room on the sides, and of course the print it has great reviews and I was sold.

How do you determine the size you need?
A shopper on Dec 12, 2014
Best Answer: Blanket sizes are measured in inches. you need to measure from the front of the horses chest right back to his or her rump. A common size for the longer big bodied quarter horses are between 78 and 84, draft sizes are generally 87+ except for the little haflingers of course. I had a little Arabian once that was only a size 69.The weatherbeatta brand is oversized but everything else seems to run true to size.

Which one is rainbow peace and peace?
A shopper on Nov 16, 2014
Best Answer: The Rainbow and Peace is a brightly colored blanket of yellow, orange, some blue, green, red, purple blending in with peace sign designs throughout through blanket. I bought 3 of them. I like the bright, fun colors and designs; it also helps when I am looking out for my horses in the woods & ensuring they are ok.
