The Tough-1® 420 Denier Turnout Blanket is an economical way to keep your horse warm and dry.

·         420 denier poly - Light Material Strength-Not Recommended for horses that bite, chew or rub on blankets or for horses turned out with a companion or in a group. Material may tear or rip if caught on a nail, rough fencing or thorns from bushes.

·         150g Polyfill- provides light/medium warmth and protection from wind and rain.

·         210 Denier Poly Lining - Prevents rubbing and helps to keep the coat shiny while preventing hair, shavings, and straw from sticking to the inside of the blanket.

·         Waterproof - coated outer shell with taped seams and seamless spine repels water to keep your horse dry.

·         Breathable - Designed to allow moisture vapor to pass wick away from the horse and preventing sweating while retaining body heat and repelling outside coldness.

  • Measuring Instructions - Stand your horse as square as possible, measure from the center of chest around side of the body to the point of the horse's rump just before the tail. If you horse ends up measuring between sizes always round up to the next size to ensure full coverage.
  • Washing Instructions - Machine wash with cold water – Gentle cycle with mild detergent. Air Dry or Machine Dry/No Heat
  • Horses Turned Outside without Shelter - Turnout Sheet and Blanket materials are waterproof and designed to keep your horse dry, however if your horse is turned out in a field without a run in shed or shelter during prolonged rain or heavy downpours your horse may still get wet especially in the neck and tail areas.
  • When using a blanket or sheet it is critical to monitor the fluctuating climate and temperatures even with a blanket that is waterproof and breathable. The wicking properties of a breathable blanket are designed to wick away normal body heat, when a blanket is too heavy the heat and moisture cannot be wicked away fast enough causing your horse to sweat. The temperature and the length of your horse’s coat will determine what weight of blanket you should use. For this reason, most people who choose to blanket horses have several articles of horse clothing that offer varying levels of warmth.
  • When selecting a blanket ensure to take into account your horse’s behavior, environment or other horses that may be turned out with your horse. The lower the denier number the less strength the material has. 420 Denier and 600 Denier are not recommended for horses that bite, chew or rub on blankets or for horses turned out with a companion or in a group. Always ensure your horse’s blanket is properly fitted and all straps are adjusted correctly, if a blanket is too tight or too loose, straps may break and material may tear. For younger horses or horses turned out with a companion or in groups, it is recommended to purchase 1200 Denier or 1680 Denier material as these are stronger materials and are less likely to tear. Certain types of fencing such as barbwire or foreign objects such as nails will easily tear any blanket no matter what the denier, always inspect the area in which your horse is kept to remove any nails or jagged fencing that may cause damage. There are no horse blankets that are guaranteed to not rip or tear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Blanket I purchased two of these blankets for my horses and i put them on them when it was 48 degrees outside and they warmed right up! Only one of the blanket slips but it's not very much. I'm very pleased with the price of these blankets for the quality and my horses are very happy. I wish they would come in more colors though. I had to get Lime green and purple for my two geldings and they looks pretty girly but hey, they work. Plus: they have been rearing and bucking and playing with them all week and they haven't gotten them off or torn. A+ from me. May 22, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great blanket This is a great blanket for cold weather. It is very waterproof and warm. Our six horses use these and not one of the blankets have ripped. This is a great blanket for a great price. They do tend to run a little large though. April 8, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Couldn't Last I bought TWO of these blankets for my horses a couple years ago because of the awesome price. Absolutely loved them, but they only went through light use. This season I have one of my mares in it 24/7 & it's absolutely trashed. The tail flap is chewed to shreds, one of the straps constantly comes undone, its got pops & dings in it from getting snagged on stuff, & recently suffered a HUGE rip in it. This is NOT a tough blanket. Price is great, but not when I have to buy a new one every year. January 21, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by I love these! These are great blankets! I bought 3 of them last year for my horses. The horses that I had liked to bite each other and the blankets survived. I didn't measure one of my horses right so one of the blankets was too small, but that's not the company's fault. Overall they're great blankets! January 1, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Does not last This blanket is okay if you put your horse in a padded stall. This blanket did not last one day in the pasture. The lining rips really easy and and I already have to buy another one to get through the rest of the winter. This blanket does not wash well either and holds water, which makes the blanket heavy and makes it stink. I would not buy this blanket if your going to turn your horse out. December 30, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by great blanket for the price this blanket has kept my 28 year old mare warm and dry. You can't beat this quality for the price. she rolls and lays down quite a bit and the blanket isn't snagged or anything. December 26, 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by Horrible Product I bought four of these blankets. First time I put them on my horses when the forecast called for rain, after a half an hour in the rain the horses were cold and SOAKING WET!!!! These are neither water PROOF nor water resistant. What a rip off! OH, and speaking of RIPS. They tore within an hour, just from a horse rolling in sand...... I want my money back!!!!! December 13, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love It Have used the 2 blankets on my young gelding and old gelding for a few nights now..They enjoy them and have not ripped or otherwise damaged them. The older gelding even defended his blanket from the Stallion who was more than a little curious over his best buddy's new attire! The price was amazing, I did read other reviews that were not as flattering..But am quite delighted with the quality. December 6, 2012

Hopefully a good blanket for the price
Dawn S on Nov 28, 2014
Great fit, great price and great quality, thought this blanket doesn't hold up as well as the more heavy duty winter blankets I have from Tough-1. Still a great product.
Amanda C on Dec 2, 2014
Great blanket! Keeps my older paint mare warm and snug even on days when the cold wind and rain wont quit. Fits perfect to measured size and is very durable. Good choice for a medium to lighter turnout blanket for a semi-active horse.

How do you measure our horses to get correct size when ordering? Thank you so much!
Lucy M on Dec 17, 2013
Best Answer: Start where neck and chest meet in the middle and measure around the horse to under the tail (hind area)

Will this sheet be too heavy for 40-50 degree weather? And is this good for showing or trail riding?
A shopper on Mar 8, 2015
Best Answer: This product would be best used in 20-30 degree weather. It is also not meant to use while trail riding.

Is this water PROOF or water Resistant and how lightweight is it?
A shopper on Sep 1, 2013
Best Answer: Hi. The blanket is very light weight & even here in CO it is the blanket I use the is lightweight but very warm. Our barn isn't insulated so on really cold nights (like single digits) I use it as the top layer to a heavier blanket options. It washes up nice but definitely can NOT be put in dryer I melted the straps even on a low setting but I liked this light weight & pretty warm option I didn't hesitate on buying a new one. My horse doesn't live outdoors so I am sorry I can not properly answer the questions about how water resistant it truly is. Otherwise I love this blanket or rather my horse does. I ordered it !n inch or two bigger than I normally would & it can be the base layer (not too big) or top layer no problem.

i have a 15.2 hand thoroghbred and she is 6. she is kinda on the skinnyier side. she measures 78inch, but should i get it a little bit smaller due to her size?
jenna on Oct 18, 2015
Best Answer: If she measures 78 inches from the center of her chest straight back to the edge of her hindquarters, then that is the size blanket you should probably purchase. The line on this blanket where the two colors meet is exactly where to measure your horse for size.

What size a blanket do I need for a 14.5 hand, 850 lb T. Walker?
kelley d on Dec 7, 2014
Best Answer: I have a QH mare that is 14H and about 950lbs and wears a 70. Ive learned to actually measure each time I buy a new blanket as each is different and I think weights can change based on a number of reasons...saves a return and the disappointment of not getting to use your new blanket right away! ??

Will this keep my horse warm in 0 temperature weather? Is it waterproof? My horse is rather large, would just a sheet keep him warm or should I go with a light weight blanket?

Thank you,
Karlee & Wellington
Karlee C on Jan 3, 2014
Best Answer: This actually is a light to medium weight blanket. The grams are 150.
