I was looking for a headstall that I could use on my horse for gymkhana classes. I found that this headstall really did the job since I did not want to use my pleasure bridle.

I like the nylon halter. Have used on a horse I had several years ago it look good on her and care of it is easy. And am hoping it will be easier to put together and put on JD. The price is reasonable.

Looks like a great item for the trail so I'm not having to carry extra halter, or have horse wear both. We'll see how it goes.

How true to size is this? I have a foundation Morgan, 16 hands, with a medium/large head.
Emily on Jul 10, 2015
Best Answer: I have a Kentucky mtn. horse that is 14 2. Her head is a good size but not refined as a morgan I put the halter up to the fourth notch and it is comfy for her. They have a lot of snitches so you should be able to find a comfy fit for your horse. I have had a lot of horses and haven't had much trouble using all of my halters on different horses until I had 12 2 pony. Hope this helps.

How small can this headstall be adjusted? I was thinking of attaching a hackamore to this headstall for my arab mare. Is this for larger horses?
Rachel P on Feb 22, 2014
Best Answer: Hi Rachel,
I purchased the Nylon Trail Bridle as a gift for a friend who is hoping to purchase a Quarter Horse down the road, so I am not sure how small this particular headstall can go.
I do have one like it that I have had for over 25 years. It was to big for my Arab, however it was great for my Thoroughbred. They are great bridles as the conversion to halter is so easy, especially when you do a lot of trail riding with rest stops and overnights, plus they are perfect for any type of weather and a cinch to clean, but Arabs have smaller heads then the average horse so my advice would be to give it a try, but only if it is returnable.

Can this be used bitless? Will reins attach to the noseband or is a bit required?
Lori H on Dec 1, 2014
Best Answer: Yes, the reins attach but they don't roll since the bridal metal is square in shape. Also note, the halter itself runs very small. I have a quarter horse - normal sized, 15.3, 1,250lbs and the halter is too small for him. When I used it bit-less, the metal would turn into his cheeks and cause a mark. It would rub into his face too much for me to use it. If you have a smaller horse, it might work out just fine.

Would this work for an Arab?.
A shopper on Mar 8, 2015
Best Answer: Yes, I have a couple of them and I only have Arabs. One thing I have done before (don't remember if it was on this combo or on a halter), but if you find you need to put another hole in a nylon halter or bridle use a soldering iron to burn a hole through the nylon. You just let it heat up and push it through. It makes the hole and sears the edges and is super easy to do.
