Where does the plastic wire piece sit on the horse ?
Lisa K on Aug 18, 2015
Best Answer: The wire piece should just hang slightly under the horse's bottom lip. It doesn't go in their mouth at all. It helps keep the hackamore straight and not twist around. The hackamores should be slightly lower on the nose compared to how halters lay in the horse's face. And to fit the chain you pull back in the reins to see if the chain tightens enough to touch the chin of the horse while also putting pressure on the nose of the horse where the braided rope is. Hope this helps.

Will this fit my quarab well? She has a dainty head but its not completely arabian sized...
Tiana P. on Jul 2, 2015
Best Answer: Yes, it should we use this hackamore on almost all our colts. We have cow-bred Quarter Horses and they tend to be on the smaller side. You will want to make sure your head stall is the right size and that the nose band is far enough above her nostrils that it doesn't cut off her air(about 2In.) Also buy some vetrap and wrap it for comfort. We find that they all respond well to it and it gives you a lot of control over their nose which in turn gives you poll pressure.
