What size do I need?
Best Answer: Are you asking what size for you or what size for your horse? If for the horse, the saddle comes with a great and easy to use adjustable gullet. There is a caliper-thing included that helps you measure your horse and determine the correct gullet with. I love this saddle! It fits my super wide fjord horse!
How do you measure to find out what size girth to buy? I'm used to an Arabian Endurance saddle with the shorter billets. This looks like it has dressage length billets.
Best Answer: Measure from just above the horse's elbow area underneath to just above the other elbow. A 14h to 15h horse will usually take in the 22-24" range, 15h to 16h is usually 24-26". Bear in mind there is a fair amount of leeway on these billets; the girth is not supposed to add any bulk under the rider's leg, but so long as it doesn't interfere with the bottom of the saddle flap, it could be used on that horse.
will i still get 25% off when you get them back in stock?
Best Answer: Unfortunately no that promotional offer may have already expired by then. We do however run various promotions Sundays to Saturdays .
how do I know if a large seat is big enough? I am 5'7" and weigh 200 pounds.
Also. Can I attach a breast strap?
Best Answer: I am 5'8" and weigh 190lbs with a slim type hips/thighs and the medium fits me great - I can fit my hand thin wise between the pulleys and my thighs which is a correct fit. My husband and others have ridden in it and do fine also, but a bit tighter for them. I think you would be happy with the large especially if you have never ridden australian before.
You can fit English type breast straps with this saddle.
Is this saddle suitable for use on a gaited horse?
Best Answer: Yes!
I'm currently using mine on a Fjord, but my friend has been using hers for several years on a Tennessee Walker. The adjustable gullet is great. The saddle is comfortable and secure. I would recommend it!
is this categorized as an English or a Western saddle? If English then i need a small size. how do i order that? If "Western" then M=15" and i'm fine. also….how much does the small size of this model weigh?
Best Answer: This item is an Australian saddle and not categorized as either English or Western.
The Medium is equivalent to a 16" English seat or a 15" Western seat. The Large is equivalent to a 17" English seat or a 16" Western seat. The saddle's actual weight is 16 lbs. It ships at 29 lbs dimensional weight of the shipping carton.
What is Cair?
Best Answer: Finally a panel system that understands the mechanics of the equine back and the impact saddles have on horse and rider performance. The revolutionary CAIR® Cushion System replaces the traditional fillings in your saddle panel with air. There are two independently sealed Air Cushions within each Saddle Panel. The concept of air, as the ultimate in cushioning for the horse is simple.
Air being a fluid medium will constantly adapt to the horse’s working muscles. This means that your weight will be distributed evenly across the entire length of the cushion, virtually eliminating pressure points. This extraordinary comfort results in freer movement, better carriage and a happier horse. For such a simple concept the dramatic difference the CAIR® Cushion System makes to a horse’s comfort and performance is profound. The CAIR® Cushion System is patented worldwide and exclusive to Bates and Wintec Saddles.
